Unable to move past the sense of guilt, a bottle and a bunch of bad decisions has lead to institutionalisation in some shitty joke of a hospital. With a stubbornness his father would be proud of, Louis refuses to allow himself to get better, despite the best efforts of his mildly attractive psychiatrist and a well-meaning but highly annoying young nurse. Comfortable in his self-imposed prison, Louis has no desire to get better. Things change with the arrival of a loud, egotistical Frenchman who is determined to draw everyone into his orbit.

The fact that he was even attempting to in the first place sent an odd thrill through Charles — even if he could sense a healthy dose of hesitation.
‘Yes. You’re among friends here.’
His expression cracked from the hard, solid mask he’d donned when he’d been fished out of the sea by the soldiers. “I’m Erik Lehnsherr,” he said as he extended one hand towards Raven. “And I believe your brother just saved my life.”
____A slight retelling of the events of X-Men: First Class where Charles is a bit less reserved about using his telepathy.

She wasn't what he would've expected Ripper's pretty little attempt at normalcy to be like- in fact, she wasn't anything like normalcy, even for a Watcher's girlfriend. Thus far, she'd proven to be snarky, a little reckless, and apparently just self-loathing enough to make him want to know what makes her tick.
When Ethan drops by Sunnydale High after hours to leave a surprise for Rupert in the library, he doesn't expect to have to play the hero, or to spend any amount of time with his ex's new girlfriend. Somehow, he ends up doing both, and it leaves him incredibly curious about what she's like when a vampire hasn't just given her a horrifying concussion.
So of course, when she turns up at the magic shop he frequents in San Francisco, talking about going on a road trip and pointedly not explaining what happened between her and Rupert, well- he has to tag along, naturally.

“Just drinks for us,” Louis said at the sight of the food menus she had underneath her arm.
“Of course,” she said quickly. That was the other nice thing about Los Angeles: half the mortals were on liquid diets themselves, and so most restaurants did not balk when two vampires sat down at peak dinner hours for a couple martinis and cigarettes.
Cigarettes for Louis, and a garishly-colored vape for Lestat.
