Summary
Given an appointment five nights north, Gawain believes he will be acting as a would-be knight to a forgotten lord and sets upon his path with a heavy heart. Instead, he finds a softer and stranger duty waiting for him.
Gawain can feel his hand trembling as the lord brings it to his lips. All of it is for a singular reason: that it is so deeply right to be touched in this way by another man. The press of a kiss to the top of his hand causes a satisfaction to wash over him that he did not know was possible before now.
“A simple start to what I would have you engage with here,” the lord explains, and Gawain does not understand but he nods all the same.

Summary
In which Gawain dies and is, thereafter, given the chance to live.
“My Lord,” he says, closing his eyes and bowing his head. “My thanks, always, for what you provide for me here.”
“My Knight.” That voice, Gawain can no longer pretend it does not roil into his gut with a fierceness. “I provide you nothing that is not yours to take.”
There is a touch upon Gawain’s face, a hand against his skin. He leans into it, and then the Lord is gone.

Summary
Boba's own hair has begun to grow back in, he’s recently discovered. It is a little patchy now, but as it gets longer, it will cover up the scars and the gaps. He pulls his hand through Din’s in the meantime and watches him shift his cheek against the bedclothes.
The galaxy has taught him the name for what he feels when he looks at him these days. It has also taught him that he is not allowed to have that thing.
If he does, it will be taken away.
(Boba and Fennec find each other and then Din, and Boba struggles to let himself have the kindness that comes his way.)

“Oh. My apologies, then. This whole situation must have been absolutely baffling. Yes, the Council stuck the Count with us because we’re the rest of his lineage. They feel that he is less likely to turn tail if he feels like he has a party he needs to protect.”
When asked if he’d wanted the 104th or the 212th, Cody should have said the 104th.
“Cody? Are you upset, dear?”
(In the last year of the war, Count Dooku snaps and changes sides. He wants Sidious crushed, and he knows just how to ruin him. First, however, he needs to get his hands on the only one who knows what Sidious is truly capable of. Thankfully, his lineage is there to help, regardless of whether they or their unhappy Clone Commanders want to or not.)

Summary
Once the Kenobi floodgates are opened, they cannot be closed. Cody has apparently been keeping an itemized list of disagreements, and he is determined to tell Rex each and every one of them.
Kenobi refuses to listen to Cody’s input. Kenobi throws himself into battle with no regard for previously established battle plans. Kenobi uses the Force so recklessly and obviously that every undercover assignment is blown within the first few minutes. Kenobi is a hypocrite who berates Cody for sidestepping protocol, but flouts it himself at every opportunity.

“You mean until King Arthur climbs out of it?”
“Yes,” Merlin says. “But after that, too, since I’m not like, 100% positive that he’s going to know what a fish ladder is. I figure we’ve got to do some work on that and probably his English before we let him go off into the wild.”
“Right. Obviously, the English. But what happens if someone tries to put another body in the lake while you’re here?”
Merlin doesn’t have an answer to that.
(Three women's bodies are dumped into a lake, and detective Gwaine Morgan is assigned the case. He does not anticipate said lake to be guarded by a local 12 year-old and is even less prepared for what happens when the 12 year-old becomes his murderer's next target.)

Boba snorted. “You’re a psychopath,” he told Fox.
“I’ve been called worse,” Fox replied breezily.
Boba doesn’t find a new family and Fox doesn’t become anybody’s dad; an adoption story.

His back is to the lit holotable, the only source of light in the room other than flickering indicators on banks of computers, and he leans against it a little further with a tired sigh, cracks his neck and rubs one hand over his forehead, pushing his hair out of his eyes with an absent motion. It’s been a long day, between checking the minefields and fueling every fighter and basilisk and cruiser they have and distributing every piece of beskar still in storage - long enough he feels justified in reaching his hand down to the shelf under the table’s edge and wrapping gloved fingers around a pair of bottles. He sets them down on the table’s surface next to him with a quiet thunk, pops the tops in a pair of quick, practiced motions, and lifts one to offer the figure in the corner of his eye, still standing facing the projections spinning lazily through the air above the holotable’s surface. “Drink?”
