There had been plenty of room for trial and error to cause her problems with her attempt at time travel and escaping both the sentinels and just everything that had come of the future.
Both her future in particular and The Future in general.
As she stayed phased into Shadowcat’s intangible state, she mused that it could’ve gone worse: she could’ve missed finding Logan in the past at all.
That said, as she watched him bein’ hauled out of the water with rebar stuck through him in enough places and ways for her to recognize Magneto’s handiwork, and with a man that several of her psyches agreed (Logan, Victor, and Remy) was none other than a young Major William Styker, the point that her powers dumped her out into the past also could’ve been better.

Rogue expected to die in the hands of Transigen scientists trying to unlock the secret of her mutation and graft it onto their sentinels.
Only that's not what happened.
She survived. She just kept on surviving. Surviving for years what should've killed her. Surviving long enough for the two people who knew where she was - and that she was alive at all - to admit the truth.
Not out of the goodness of their hearts, oh no. But because they'd finally found a use for her. Otherwise, they would've left her to rot forever, or until the scientists finally found what it would take to kill her.
Because, to them, to those who betrayed her and left her behind, saving her just wasn't worth the trouble.
With that being the case, she didn't know why they all figured she'd be a good little girl and play along like the old Rogue would've.
The old Rogue was dead and gone. They'd seen to that. And whatever remnants that might've been left, the Transigen scientists made sure to smother in the cradle.
No, she was all that was left now - and she was done with just docilely playing the role others decided for her.

Wei Changze knew he couldn't put his former sect brother off forever. Not without creating a rift with Lotus Pier that he - and more importantly his children - couldn't afford. But he would never rejoin the Jiang.
He wouldn't dishonor his wife's memory that way.

Summary
Wèi Chǎngzé had never expected that he would fall in love. At best, as one of the senior non-main-family Jiang disciples, he thought he would likely be wed with a mainline Jiang to bolster his bonds to the sect he served as a disciple. But then, to be fair, no one could really expect a hurricane-given-form like Zangse Sanren.
Faced with a decision to either leave the sect and only home he'd ever known, or forsake the woman who had stolen his heart, Wèi Chǎngzé followed his beloved into the life of a rogue cultivator and never looked back.
Then came the children, and the realization that while his beloved was born to roam free, raising children on the road wasn't a sustainable option.
Adjustments had to be made. Sacrifices. For his children were everything good and wonderful and they would have everything that it was within his power to give them.
No matter what he had to do to ensure it.

He gorges himself on blood with no sense of restraint and he tortures and mutilates the most defenseless victims he can find. And you, on my behalf, are going to make him pay penance for it.”
“You are going to kill him,” it continued, authoritative and matter-of-fact, “and no matter if you burn or stake him, he will reform the subsequent night. So you will kill him again, and again, and again, until he feels at least a fraction of the humiliation and agony he’s caused. Once that’s done, we’ll be able to end this."
Jacob Blackwood assumed that he could throw his heart and soul to the flames with impunity. After all, he was an Immortal, and a particularly powerful one at that - it would take more than a few human hunters and self-righteous Ekons to force him to leave this world and face God's judgement. Unfortunately, the devil was more than happy to close that gap.
