Summary
Will stared back, completely still and unmoving for a long moment, the expression on his bloody face unreadable. After a few seconds, he tore his eyes away from his sister and turned to Mike. Mike twitched at the sudden attention.
"Is this real?"
Mike blinked, his eyebrows reaching for his hairline. Real? What was happening? Mike stuttered, at a loss for words and still disoriented. He started to look to El, but Will's hand tightened hard on his, meeting his eyes desperately.
"Mike, is this real?"
Mike straightened. Wherever Will had been, it messed up his sense of reality bad. Mike didn't know how to tell what was real, had never been in Vecna's mindscape before. He had no reference for what it felt like, but he knew Will's hand in his was warm and strong. He could see the sunlight, bright and clear. He felt the breeze through the open window, the ache in his back from hitting the wall at the base, the sting of the fresh cuts on his face from the glass.
He took a deep breath, and nodded.
"This is real."

Will reaches his hand out towards Mike’s face to wipe the ink off, and Mike’s heart falters weakly in his chest, excitement buzzing in his veins because he’s been waiting. Waiting for Will’s touch.
But as quickly as the moment begins, it ends just as fast.
Mike’s breath hitches as Will’s hand stops dead mid-air, frozen in time. He drops his hand back to the table, the smile on his face wavering, and turns back to Holly to start a conversation again. But Mike can see the way his hands are trembling ever so slightly and tries not to let the devastating ache echoing throughout his body swallow him whole.

Summary
Mike has always adored Will's artistic abilities. Will could create just about anything, whether it be from oil pastels, paints, charcoal, or just drawing or sketching in general. In Mike's eyes, just about anything Will made was a masterpiece.
It wasn't exactly uncommon for Will to ask Mike to come over for modeling for a new piece he was working on. He didn't ask too often but when he did, Mike always agreed immediately. He loved modeling for Will because watching Will be in his element was so... attractive.
And if Mike was being completely honest? He was kind of jealous of the way Will treated his canvas. He wanted Will to look at him the way he did his artwork. He wished there was a way for him to have the best of both worlds, a way for Will to work and him have every bit of his attention.

Now that the entire party is settled around the table, deep into the Christmas-but-not-really-Christmas-themed campaign, Will is having second thoughts. He brings his head up from his character sheet to glance at Mike, who peers back at him from over the master’s screen.
Will doesn’t know entirely what the campaign entails, but he knows what happens at the end, regardless of the players' actions. They are hurtling towards the end concerningly quickly.

Will and Mike have been dating for two months, but haven't told the party yet. They decide to break the news in a very Will-and-Mike way: via D&D-campaign.

Summary
Was…was Mike’s heart reacting to Will?
Mike isn’t looking at him. He’s staring hard at his cards as if he hasn’t seen them before, biting his inner cheek, and accentuating his dimple. As Will looks closer, he notices the pink shade spreading over the shell of Mike’s ear, the red emerging from the black curls like a rose sprouting from the earth.
Was Mike still nervous around him? Hadn’t they resolved that?
Will decides to test it. He leans onto the bed and rests a hand on Mike’s uninjured thigh, his thumb swiping side to side over the covers, and waits.
Mike's leg twitches into his hand, and barely a moment passes before the beeps speed up again, a rapid climb from steady to sprinting, and when Will looks, the blush has spread to Mike’s cheeks, his eyes unmoving and glued to his cards.
Oh. Will gapes at the monitor, the green spiking line. That's not discomfort.
Oh. He can have some fun with this.
Or: Mike, while protecting Will, gets attacked by a demogorgon. Guilt-ridden, Will stays with him in the hospital, forcing them to resolve the awkward air that has surrounded them for months, and, along the way, uncover some truths.
