The dreams begin five days after Merlin’s execution.
The dreams— colors and shapes made from the wreckages of Arthur’s memories, as meaningless as words like loyalty and friendship— begin with the gentle questioning of something uncertain of its own right to exist.
And Arthur answers the question the only way he can— with his mind turned away from the thoughts that filled him at night, facing the morning with nothing more than a frown and a promise not to think of his dream again.
There are more important things to face, anyway. Whatever his father has planned each day, it leaves no room for Arthur to think of petty things like a moment of a bad dream.

Ed, it turns out, is a bottomless pit with table manners to rival Toph, a hot temper to rival Prince Zuko if you mention his height and, unfortunately, enough talent at earthbending that she can't reasonably suggest they leave him somewhere quiet and remote for the rest of the war.

The first official political overture the small desert nation of Xerxes makes towards Amestris in over fifty years happens a year after the end of the Ishvalan Civil War. Though it is expected to concern Ishval, and the border between Amestris and Xerxes, or perhaps Amestrian use of Alchemy in the war, is has nothing to do with the bloody conflict, or it's relation to Xerxes' rich history with alchemy.
It is a simple, polite appeal to the Amestrian Government – an invitation for an Amestrian automail mechanic to join the Xerxesian court.

Of course the Hogake and council underestimated the fundamental breaks in Kakashi's psyche.
