Summary
Zuko has not known real peace since the day he faced his sister in their Agni Kai many years ago. No matter how many times he tried to bury it, his feelings for Katara refused to fade. At every shared meal, every sparring match, every return to the Fire Palace, he found himself hoping — just once — that her eyes would meet his and reignite the spark that had flared the moment he took Azula’s lightning for her... but they never did.
Her gaze always found Aang instead, and, in time, Zuko taught himself to look away — for their sake, for the fragile balance of their friendship. The Avatar and the healer, bound together as if by fate.
But when Katara comes to the Fire Nation during a quiet break from Aang, the Fire Lord begins to notice something he hadn’t allowed himself to see before. Whenever he looked away…
She always looked back.

Summary
Zuko sat on a large stone and watched her work without interrupting, which she appreciated. When Katara finally let the water down and turned, he was looking at her with the expression she had come to think of as specifically for her.
"I've missed watching you bend," he said.
"I've been bending."
"I know." He paused, "I mean just watching you, watching from the outside."

Summary
Growing up, Mai had always been the quiet, proper daughter all other Fire Nation nobles wished they could have… until the day she met the Fire Prince.
He ultimately left her behind when he defected from the Fire Nation, with nothing more than a note and a broken heart to remember him by.
Then her entire world completely shattered six months later when she learned that Zuko had fallen in love with and proposed to a lowborn waterbender, even risking his life and throne in the process.
Mai thought she deserved every right to be furious by this turn of events, but of course, no one likes a mad woman.

Written as a companion piece to my Zutara-themed series "The Phoenix and the Dragon." Not your average Zuko/Katara fic, not a Mai/Zuko one either, although it does cover their relationship from her POV.

He nearly ran away, leaving Zuko and Katara alone in the tea shop.
“Why would you do that? If it’s pi-”
“Once again, I don’t think I could pity you if I tried. He irritates me, flaunting his prejudice like that, and if he does that shit to you, it probably means he does it to other people, and if I’m not mistaken you are the only Prince of the Fire Nation, aren’t you?”
“So you didn’t do it for me?” He smiled and rose up an eyebrow.
“No, I *am* your knight in shining armour, Prince Zuko, I should get a medal.” His name was sweet coming from her mouth.
He laughed at her antics. “I have a lot of dishes to wash before busy hour, tea’s on the house, Waterbender.”

Summary
Katara could feel the precipice before her, and if she flung herself from it now, he could catch her or let her fall. Not a fall to the death; she had seen too much and lived too long now for such a thing to be fatal, but the bruises incurred would be tender for years to come. It would be safer to stay on solid ground—she had lived without him for fifty years, she could bear another ten, or twenty—she could still bring herself back from the edge of this, remain stable. That was what she had chosen before, and she had been happy enough.
Katara hoped Zuko didn’t notice how her hands shook as she brought her teacup to her lips. The tea was lukewarm now, still with it’s not-quite-bitter edge. Katara jumped.

She doesn't trust him. He doesn't know how to be around her. And yet...
Basically a collection of Zutara fluff that is very loosely based on a vague plot. Lots of angst and long stares of yearning.

Decisions make the world we live in. In this world Hakoda and Kya decided not to try to protect their daughter in the tribe, but to send her away for her own safety to the North Pole. Here Lu Ten meets a little Whirlpool and decides that the Fire Nation has been wrong. His following actions sending ripples through time, and giving life to a line that in another world would have been extinguished upon the ascension of Ozai. Here the Volcano that killed Avatar Roku erupted 2 years later. Here Aang isn't woken by Katara so when will he be and what world will he awaken to?
AN: Lu Ten accidentally became a main character and made me rewrite the plot. Rude.
