But did he really?, because fuck, Shane's mind keeps drifting to Ilya in the hotel gym the night of the draft and how badly Shane wanted to pounce on him. Or how unbearably sexy he looked in the showers today when, well, when everything started happening. And God, all Shane wants to do is touch him. Kiss him. He want's to get to know Ilya in the way he's been imagining ever since Draft Night.
So, he sat and he waited. The clock hit 9PM and his heart rate spiked, but he continued to wait.
And Wait.
And Wait.
Until it was 11:42 PM and Shane had decided he was done waiting.
Ilya never showed that night, and Shane? Well Shane felt like an idiot for believing anything could've happened.

Not in a crazy way (probably), but because he feels like he can never get enough of this man. His Shane. His husband. No amount of time, no amount of closeness, ever feels like it could be enough.

Ilya Rozanov thinks it's probably best to decline the invitation to the 2017 All-Star Game. It's not swaggering, knothead alpha male bullshit; it's a survival strategy. He doesn't think it'll end well for anyone if he's forced into playing an instinct-driven, blood-pumping sport like ice hockey with Shane Hollander right now, not when Hollander is probably going to bring his new girlfriend to Tampa for the weekend.
But it's Hollander. It's Shane. So of course Ilya doesn't decline the stupid invitation. And of course the game goes sideways.
That doesn't mean it doesn't end well.
