Yet, he agrees. Later on the future, he grows fond of a certain supe. Will he be able to confess, or keep it all to himself?

“Butcher,” he replies, collapsing back against the mattress. Homelander can sympathize, those drugs tend to be disorienting. “Billy.”
“Oh, because Butcher Billy is so much better than Homelander.”
The man snorts and Homelander thinks it might actually be a laugh. “Backwards, kid. Billy Butcher.”

Homelander found himself fighting against it, despite the sweet sensation of serenity. The rate at which he was lulled into a mild trance was almost alarming. He was losing control, eyelids growing heavier by the minute the more he took it all in. For the first time in years, he felt truly relaxed. His mind was entirely blank, Hughie’s soft voice neutralising the venomous thoughts that constantly poisoned his mind. He never would have thought something so simple would give him comfort.
tldr: Homelander discovers Hughie's ASMR channel and becomes obsessed.

He already knows what’s happened. He’s not fucking stupid. Soldier Boy, the blast. The lingering burning over his skin as his blood drips from wounds he can’t see because he doesn’t have the strength to move his fucking head. As the V in his body vanishes, taking with it all the power, all the things that justified his time in that cold barren lab. It makes his suffering moot, strips away the weight his time served had left on his shoulders.

It hadn't started as something he was hiding from Butcher and the rest, just a fun fact without an opportunity to share. Sure, technically Hughie was a Supe, but what did it matter? He'd hidden it most of his life, why would he need to tell the definitely-not-an-FBI agent asking about his dead girlfriend he was crazy good at shadow puppets? But then, it had just spiraled and one lie by omission led to the next and soon enough it has been months and the secret was starting to eat him alive.
