Any paper would've done, he just wanted to write it all down while it was still fresh.Edwin has had his notebook for longer than thirty years. At this point it was more than just a convenient place for his meticulous notes, it was a symbol of sorts, a link to his past, an object that gave him confidence, and his if-worst-comes-to-worst ticket out of hell.

Summary
The only thought running through his head had been the overwhelming need to protect Edwin, to keep them from being ripped apart. The thought of Edwin having to relive the torture of hell while the night nurse poked around in his head, had entirely pushed him over the edge, only coming back to himself, after he had fed the woman to the sea monster. Heaving, Charles turned towards Edwin, barely registering the other two. He only had eyes for his best mate, needing desperately to make sure he was still with him.
There he was, whole and simply there, he sacked with relief. Only to feel something break inside when he saw Niko and Crystals take a collective step back, eying him with trepidation and something bordering on fear, pale and speechless. But before he could spiral and let loose all the words suddenly burning like acid in his throat, Edwin was running towards him, almost throwing himself at him. Capturing him in an all-encompassing hug, desperate and all too relieved. “Charles, Charles…”
Right after Charles feeds the Night Nurse to Angie, Edwin is there for his partner.

“Oh, Sweetheart, what happened?” Edwin says softly, running one of his thumbs around the tense part of his neck. It makes Charles’s eyes well up with tears a bit.
He blinks back the water in his eyes and takes a huge breath before sharing the worst part of his injury. The words “iron choker” are lost on his tongue. It makes him look like a blubbering mess as he angrily huffs nothing in Edwin’s direction.
His partner turns away from Charles, “you two said he was perfectly fine in the other room.”
“He was fine,” Crystal barks back. “How was I supposed to know he was going to hurt himself?”
“It’s Charles, he always hurts himself!”

God, Series Operators. As bright a rainbow as any Ranger team that came before them-
Well, except, save for a Pink Ranger.
Dr. K’s records of previous teams imply that the pink on a Ranger team is usually the heart of the team.
But it cannot be argued that the team does not have a heart.
It changes, based on the day, who the heart of the team might be. Whether it might be Summer, who traded all of her luxury for a job getting her nails dirty. Whether it might be Flynn, who dedicated his entire life to flitting from job to job in some attempt to help the most people. Whether it be Scott, who cares about making sure that no one else has to suffer the loss that he has had to.
Or, more lately, if it might be Dillon, who might have some Venjix parts inside of him, sure, but who manages the battle against the end of the world everyday within his own veins for the sake of protecting others.
Some might have expected it to be the Green Ranger, whoever might fill those shoes.
But no one expected it to be Ziggy fucking Grover.

He dies trying to save a child.
He remembers that much. He does not remember the child's name, or even his own last name. He does not remember the scent of his mother's perfume or the way that her aloo gobi tasted or even what warmth feels like.
But he does remember that much.
He remembers the child, and the lake, and the frost-
And the man in the moon, coaxing him upward, breathing frost into his lungs, moon-gray eyes calling him to his new home.
That is what Charles has to cling to, in those long, hard spaces between the winters where he gets to skate along with his cricket bat, bringing snow and frost and fun to the children.
That he is home. That being Frost, the spirit of winter, is a lonely endeavor, yes, but at least he has the man in the moon as all other attempts at connection fail.
Because along the way, he will meet other spirits, but not a single one will allow him to stay.
