"Garroth stared at the bright glowing screen of his phone. It’s new and unused and impersonal. Garroth had spent the past 15 minutes just redownloading apps and old photos from the cloud. He set one of himself and Laurance as the lockscreen.
"Curled up on a shitty bed in an equally shitty apartment, his newly-fledged werewolf ears were pinned against his head. Should he even dare?
"But he couldn’t leave them in the dark. Not after so long. They were probably worried sick."

"Grace’s first observation was that Rocky was warm. It was probably the sole thing his stupid hindbrain had latched onto. Warm meant fire. Fire meant food. So really, why wouldn’t it? There were other things— infinitely more important things— to notice. Like how, for instance, Rocky wasn’t putting his entire weight onto Grace. Any force he applied was carefully measured and calculated to make sure that Grace didn’t get crushed by the weight.
But, most importantly, Rocky was warm, especially under a fully luminous sun."

Samael was not the one who was there in Egypt when the Nile ran red, when the livestock died, when darkness covered the skies, when doors were marked by lamb’s blood. He was there, of course, but he wasn’t on duty. This is a simple fact. He hadn’t been on duty for millennia at that point. Even if he was, he certainly didn’t have it in him to kill.
This is the truth.
1. There had been an Angel of Death to reap the souls of the firstborn sons of the Egyptians.
2. It certainly wasn’t Samael.
3. It wasn’t Azrael either.Heaven had a new Angel of Death. This, of course, came with its own truths.
1. The Angel of Death had been human once, and continued to be human upon his ascension.
2. He was even more uncontrollable than Samael had been. He couldn’t be a puppet in a grand scheme of world destruction and war. Not unless one actually took control of his body.
3. Neither Heaven nor the Almighty had been the ones to instate him.Finally, and the most worrisome of all: The Angel of Death has been missing since that night in Egypt. And time marched forward nonetheless.
It’d be a shame, then, if he had caught wind of the Second Coming.
