Sans wasn't planning on getting himself a slave. There were just too many mysteries surrounding the human to just let them go. Sans was going to find every little secret of theirs if it killed him. Make no mistake, it was likely to kill him. If only the human would stop sucking up to his brother.
Or in which, the author is sick of people using slave fics to make reader a broken/submissive doll and Sans a dom butthead, so author makes their own story and gleefully tramples over some cliches.

It used to be, when I was a much younger MI, that dropping my crew off at PSUMNT so that I could go on a solo run was one of my least favorite activities. Second only to actually going on the long, boring slog of a solo cargo run.
Now, I find my engines subtly vibrating with anticipation as I watch my crew step out of the airlock and onto the docks.
Most of my crew, anyway. My SecUnit lingers in the open hatchway, speaking quietly with Seth and Martyn.
Murderbot and ART alone on a cargo mission, finding ways to keep themselves occupied. And by "finding" I mean Murderbot has discovered a new way to make its partner squirm.

Summary
I was well aware that ART and I had different preferences when it came to media. ART liked shows about ships; if such a thing as a show about SecUnits existed, I was 93% sure I wanted nothing to do with it. ART got scared and stopped watching when it thought humans might get seriously hurt; I was far from opposed to a nice unrealistic comfort drama, but also sometimes watched disaster documentaries to relax. I skimmed and skipped around; ART watched everything, all the way through, in order, usually several times.
But most importantly right now, I always sped up and muted boring scenes of humans having sex, and ART absolutely did not.
