    Summary

Two historical medieval fics set in the 1290s-1310s, following how young Jack and Robby meet in al-Andalus through to when canon-age Robby and Dennis meet in the Rhineland. There are a lot of medieval aesthetic AUs for The Pitt, but I hadn't seen any actual medieval AUs. This series tries to fill that gap, as best it can, fitting the characters into the medieval world to explore who they would be to each other in a very different time period. I tried to be as thoughtful as I could in figuring out how, say, Robby would have Adamson as a major figure in his life or how Catholics and Jews would see their relationships both socially and religiously. The religion aspect is crucial because ultimately the major difference between a medieval aesthetic and medieval history is how much religion suffuses the worldview of the people living in it. That made it more complicated! But it turns out that, the more complicated a relationship is, the hotter the sex >:)

    Summary

This was a NaNoWriMo project of sorts (though I actually finished it on the 3rd of December) -- I wanted to see if I could spin a semi-noodle-incident background allusion in my 'Ineffable AU' fic (linked near the end of the adventure) into a full thingummy. It's my very first bit of writing for D&D, so naturally I made a huge ten-floor dungeon with side bits... XD (I don't do anything by halves!) I was trying to make the setting seem like it'd be plausible as a working opera house, even without the player characters' presence, so that might be part of it.

This adventure is balanced for a party of four tenth-level characters. The storyline is primarily inspired by the original 'Phantom of the Opera' novel from 1911 (which I'm fairly sure is public domain), with some side bits, NPCs and so on inspired by Terry Pratchett's novel Maskerade (not public domain) -- have fun spotting all the references!

    Happy dungeoneering! :D

Not long ago I read a story in the Forverts that took place in America, about how a girl became a man.

But that’s not news to the people in the town where I’m from. Permit me to tell the story in your paper. In our shtetl of Krivozer, Ukraine, Berel-Beyle always had a good name as a fine, upstanding Jew.
