Summary
Ousted from the Vees, Vox finds himself with nowhere else to go but the Hazbin Hotel. Juggling the total loss of his power & influence, a shitty marketing job, and dealing with increasing incidents of power-boosted sinners wreaking havoc, Vox has truly hit rock bottom. The therapy sessions and happy-go-lucky musical numbers aren't helping.
Despite it all, things could be worse. At least he's playing detective in a secret situationship with Alastor.

Sent back to his mortal life with a chance to "do it right this time", Vox has a problem. The Angels have installed a patch in his soul: the Pacifist Protocol. If he tries to kill a rival, poison a boss, or throw a punch, he is paralyzed by blinding agony.
He cannot claw his way to the top if he can't use his claws. He needs a loophole.

Really cute, innocent approach (re lack of serial killing murders) where Vincent and Alastor seem to be living in a more modern setting AND also not doing murders and Vincent is a shark scientist instead of an entertainer and cult leader. I liked it a lot.
my aromantic friends will note the use of "more than friends" in this one. I feel the complaint particularly here because it could have easily been written as "other than friends" given the context that it is a burgeoning friendship rather than an established one, but I also understand the urge to use "more than friends" as a phrase because ideally anyone you are with romantically or queer platonically is *ALSO* your friend, so you want the thing and also something else which strikes me as definitionally "more than" but without the exact clarity it easily positions "more than friends" as if this thing that is *other* than friendship is *more valuable than* friendship. WHICH, feels like a basic allonormative and romance centric take that needs to be challenged. remains to be seen if that was intentional -

Alastor may be the only one who sees this for the scheme of Vox's it clearly is, but no matter. Whatever his plans are, surely they're just as incompetent and silly as the last time! Surely!

Summary
In the second week of Alastor’s imprisonment—or, what is more truthfully turning out to be ‘Alastor’s series of dubiously consensual playdates with the Vees,’ for all that Vox doesn’t seem to understand the first thing about having a captive—Vox agrees to shove his little teammates out of the spotlight, parades himself out on stage with the benefit of their costume design and back-up dancers, and proceeds to singlehandedly win the most hilarious game of chicken that Alastor has ever seen.
Positive reinforcement may be warranted. But Alastor has never excelled at delivering that consistently.
(In which Alastor gives Vox a little treat for publicly humiliating Lucifer, followed by several tricks for leaving him alone at home with Valentino. Set between the last few minutes of season 2 episode 5 and first few minutes of season 2 episode 6.)

When Vox makes his Deal with Alastor, he doesn't stop to negotiate the terms, doesn't draw up a physical contract that clearly outlines the terms of the agreement. No, he just seizes the hand that's offered before Alastor can pull it back.

The massive, colossal failure of VoxTek Angelic Security is going to have to be carefully erased from the minds of the entirety of Hell if Vox is going to stay in business, but that’s a problem for future Vox. Present Vox needs to figure out a plan so he doesn't die horribly first.
Waking up screenless, body smashed, with a hole in his chest courtesy of an angelic spear, and trapped in Alastor's nightmare of a room is not part of that plan.

Because for the first time, Vox realised that what he’d imagined for years wasn’t dominating him… it was touching him without destroying him.
And that terrified him more than any demon in Hell.
