Ilya Rozanov has been drafted by Boston, the number one pick overall, but his father doesn't want him moving to America and so takes steps to block his visa. He's going to have to go back to Russia and stay there forever and that, thinks Shane Hollander, is wrong.
It's so wrong that Shane can't stop himself from doing something about it. Even though that something is the most reckless, the only reckless thing he's ever done in his life. He marries Rozanov in secret, to keep him out of Russia and put him on a path to Canadian citizenship.
Shane's got a five-year plan to get him there and when you have a plan nothing can go wrong. Right? Right. When you have a solid plan and a marriage that's on paper only there's no risk of feelings getting involved. Not on Rozanov's part and certainly not on Shane's.

Hayden’s eyes flickered to Shane as he sat on the bench, chewing on the edge of his mouth guard.
“Don’t fucking look at him,” Ilya insisted as he bent down for the faceoff.
“Excuse me?” Hayden mumbled, eyes darting back to him.
“You heard me,” he retorted, his tone clipped. “He’s not your teammate anymore; he’s mine. If you think Marlow is a problem to your game, wait until you see what I will do to your team if you hurt anyone on mine again.”
Hayden scoffed, dipping his head as he tried to focus on the game. Something about Ilya’s words still rang through his head though, sounding so definitive that he didn’t want to risk seeing what he was actually referring to when he said that.
The puck dropped again, and Ilya stole it before he could comprehend how quickly it happened.

A What-If set in s2e5-6 where Ekko returns to the main timeline and stops Jayce from killing Viktor, preventing the episode 6 finale debacle. After the interruption, Jayce loses his resolve and resigns himself to trying to save Viktor the long and hard way instead. Caitlyn works on fixing her mistakes, Jinx and Vi start on the road to recovery, and Ambessa and Singed continue to cause problems on purpose.
Basically, everyone finally gets the interactions with each other that we all deserved, no one dies, but everything still hurts because this is Arcane and I'm a masochist.

As it turns out, his disappearance is the work of none other than Ambessa, twink hunter extraordinaire and connoisseur of only the finest local cuisine. And what cuisine could be more exquisite than the Herald of Zaun himself?
She isn't in the business of asking nicely, but perhaps a bribe is in order? After all, why ask when the stakes are this high, and you hold all the cards? A spicy meal just means more flavor, right? Jayce better hurry and find Viktor before she decided to have a taste and find out...
To quote the post on Tumblr that this idea originated from: "No idea of this has been said before but Viktor was so lucky Singed was the only one who went to see him at the commune before getting blasted by Jayce’s hammer-staff. If Ambessa “Twink Hunter” Medarda got ONE LOOK at Viktor in his little blanket robe the rest of the season would have been Jayce rescuing Viktor not from the Hexcore and glorious evolution, but from HER! Do you remember local cuisine?! He was an appetizer! Ambessa would have made a whole MEAL of Viktor!"

The creature emerged from behind the heart of the Hexgates. Elongated inhuman limbs glinted metallic grey-purple, sinuous tendons and muscles parodied in metal with an impossible precision and fluidity. Long fingers curled around a tall staff that hit the floor periodically, punctuating the slow predatory forwards movement. Gold glinted on the chest, on the wrist, across the arms and legs.
When the anomaly is destroyed in the canon universe, it causes a backlash through the arcane. As another Arcane Herald Viktor reaches for the wild rune, he's instead thrown into another reality where the Hexgates have only been functioning for about six months.

“You're so young. You're so young,” he whispers into the top of his head, and Jayce doesn't bring attention to the tears he can feel dripping onto his hair. He knows he would hate it being pointed out himself. The hug could last one minute or ten for as much as he knows, but when the older finally draws himself away Jayce just… looks at him.
