Summary
Mike Wheeler watches as those around him slowly leave. Maybe it's time he left, too.
After graduation, Mike decides to stay in Hawkins. He's taking classes, writing stories, and working part-time, but he knows it isn't enough. With the help of the people of Hawkins, Mike finds the courage to leave and set off on his travels. He works, he writes, he sends letters, he meets new people, all before finally returning to the boy he called home.

Summary
It's the 18-month period in which Willow Byers is living in Michelle Wheeler's house after the events of Season 4. Other than the gender swap of Mike, Will, and Eleven, everything else is canon compliant- so long as you pretend Season 5 doesn't exist (which you should).
Michelle Wheeler becomes obsessed with multiverse theory, which inspires her to make some decisions she otherwise might not have had the courage to.
It's a slow burn. Since it's a gender swap AU, there's some preposition establishing the dynamic between Michelle and Willow, that way once we get to the smut it'll be that much better.

“Mr. Byers! I was hoping to catch you. This is Dr. Owens, from Hawkins National Laboratory.”
Will pinched the bridge of his nose in annoyance, already feeling a headache beginning to form in his temples. "I’m kind of in the middle of a lecture here, can this wait?”
“I’m afraid it can’t. We need your assistance urgently.”
“And why do you need me?” Will was unable to suppress the bitterness in his tone, “You’ve got plenty of experts and doctors on your staff. I’m just a grad student, and I’m halfway across the country. What could I possibly do that no one else could?”
Dr. Owens cleared his throat on the other end of the line, “You’re the only one who’s been there and made it out alive. Honestly, we could use your expertise. We’ve caught a specimen. A live one. And you’re definitely going to want to see this.”
Or, it's 1998 and the Upside Down is still alive and kicking, and something new just came out.

Summary
The Upside Down isn't the only alternate universe the party has to worry about it seems. When something inexplainable happens during a game of D&D, Will is replaced by... Will? Will the Wise appears before everyone, confused on why his friends are wearing such strange garbs and what dungeon he has stumbled into. Meanwhile, Will finds himself surrounded by fantastical versions of his friends clad in armor and robes somewhere far, far from Hawkins. The party now has a new mission to figure out how to get their Wills switched back around, and Mike needs to figure out what this feeling in his chest is all about.
Or
If Will had a nickel every time he was transported into an alternate reality that had some similarities to his normal reality, he'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but its weird that it happened twice, right?
