Robin waving from the doorway of Family Video. Dustin flipping the bird outside the school gates. Nancy smiling shyly under the Hawk sign. The party piling out of his old beemer into Palace Arcade, Steve’s yelled warning at them to be back out at nine pm sharp if they wanted a ride home echoing through near-empty streets.
He turns away. Focuses on the road ahead, the road to home, to Forest Hills.

Some nights, Steve can't fight the urge to drive laps of Hawkins and make sure there's no Upside Down stirrings, has to check. Some nights, he misses his old friends like crazy.

Summary
Branches snap under his feet as he runs, his breath fogging in front of him. It’s cold, but he’s sweating. Fear makes your body do strange things.
He was safe until he wasn’t. He was alone until he wasn’t.
He doesn’t know what’s chasing him, he just knows it’s toying with him. It could’ve attacked him minutes ago when he tripped over a vine. It could’ve attacked him only a few seconds earlier when he had to pause at the end of a trail and could practically feel the hot breath on his neck.
Steve’s losing steam and his chest hurts, and no amount of athleticism could have prepared him for running cross country in the Upside Down. It never gets easier.

Summary
Eddie Munson is sentenced to 25 years in prison for the murder of Chrissy Cunningham in July of 1986.
Despite everyone’s best efforts, the government did not seem as hellbent on helping him prove his innocence as they did to make sure everyone kept their mouths shut. Hopper and Nancy put more time into pleading his case than any of the fancy lawyers the feds sent to handle it.
Apparently, a biased jury and judge didn’t much care for whatever proof Nancy had.
At least he looks alright in orange.
or: The government fails Eddie Munson, but Steve Harrington gives him a dangerous thing: hope.

Somewhere else in Chicago, Eddie Munson's life is pretty good. He lives with his best friend. He works nights at a bar he loves. No, it's not what he'd imagined his life was gonna be like at thirty-two, because Steve isn't here, and there was a time he couldn't ever imagine living his life without him.
But he has, and it's fine, everything's fine. Honest.

The stars are bright and Eddie’s shivering.
It’s not the slight chill in the air that’s doing it this time, though.
It’s the way Steve looks, floating in the pool, eyes closed, soft smile on his face.
He’s beautiful like this, he’s beautiful all the time, but now he’s glowing with a happiness that Eddie knows he’s at least partially responsible for. The reflection of the moon on the water and Steve’s damp skin makes him appear paler than he normally is, but he’s glowing.
They got married today.
Well, as married as two guys can be in 1988. They can’t do it on paper, but they can do it with love.

There’s Eddie—his features as familiar to Steve as his own. He’s wearing skin-tight leather pants, combat boots, and a flowing white shirt that looks like it belongs in a Renaissance fair or a particularly flamboyant vampire movie.
But what makes Steve’s jaw actually drop is Eddie’s hair.
His wild, dark curls—softer now than they used to be, thanks to the haircare routine Steve introduced him to—are—
“You’re blonde!” Dustin blurts out, voice sharp with disbelief.
Eddie’s blonde.
Or: Corroded Coffin are shooting a music video (this is the 90s my friends) and Steve visits his boyfriend on set. When he finds out Eddie changed his hair to blonde for the shoot, his dick has a very strong reaction to it.

“Where’s Harrington?”
Eddie’s pissed. When Steve offered to let his band play at his stupid little party, he was promised they’d have time to set up before people arrived. Steve swore they could use his extension cords for their equipment. He said he would pay them if they promised to stick to covers of “normal” songs.
He hasn’t seen him anywhere since they got here. Some girl showed them where to set up, Robin from band. Eddie’s not sure what she’s even doing here, didn’t think she hung with Harrington’s crowd.
There’s hardly anyone here. It’s a bust. But it’s probably a good thing since they didn’t have enough outlets for all their amps. Jonathan Byers is sitting on the couch, acting like he owns the place. Nancy Wheeler is next to him, keeping an awkward distance that tells a very obvious tale of hidden feelings.

There is something lovely about having a routine.
Wake up. Kiss until there’s no way they’ll be on time.
Make breakfast. Two sugars, no cream for Eddie. Cream, no sugar for himself. Scrambled eggs and toast with grape jelly on Mondays and Wednesdays, cinnamon toast on Tuesdays, fresh bagels on Thursday, apple maple oatmeal on Fridays.
Go to work. The record store is on the way to the elementary school, so Steve almost always drops Eddie off on his way even though it’s two hours before Eddie unlocks the door for customers.
Go home and make dinner. Or grab take out on the way if they don’t feel like cooking and cleaning up.
Fall more in love with each other.Steve didn’t think he’d ever have this. Loving someone, being loved in ways he never thought were possible.

“There was a fire. At the mall. I worked there? At Scoops Ahoy.”
The way he says the last part sounds strange, like it’s really important somehow that Eddie believes him.
“Okay,” he says, then adds, “Is that why you look like that?”
Eddie’s never met a fire with fists, but he wants Steve to tell him what happened—not just assume.
There’s a beat of silence, like Steve’s weighing his options, and Eddie knows a lie’s coming before Steve even opens his mouth.
“Yeah. Building caved in. We made it out—Robin and I. Paramedics checked me over and said I couldn’t drive, so I decided to walk.”
Almost ten miles, Eddie estimates. Sure. Totally normal thing to do in the middle of the night, battered and bruised, after escaping a fire.
But he’s pretty sure that’s all he’s going to get, so he settles on, “Good thing I came along, then.”
“Yeah.”

He’s beautiful. “You should look at the pool while I touch you.” He nods at the sunroom off the kitchen. “I can push you up against the glass and make you look.”

Summary
There’s no way Eddie is seriously going to do this with Steve Harrington of all people.
Steve is the typical jock, the popular rich guy who makes all the ladies swoon and all the guys jealous enough that they drool at his feet at the chance to be his friend. He has a huge, empty house, and seemingly very little adult supervision to stop him from having parties that may or may not get shut down by Hopper.
And here Eddie is in that big, empty house waiting on Steve to finish locking up for the night. So they can have sex.
If you had told Eddie at any point in his mere 17 years of life that Steve Harrington was not only still a virgin at 16, but also wanted Eddie to be his first, he would’ve told you that the weed you smoked must be laced with something else. Yet, he’s here, standing awkwardly at the foot of the stairs waiting to get his hands and mouth on Steve.
