Summary
For a long time, the 141 has been exclusively birds.
This isn’t by design; a lot of those that choose to go spec ops are birds, or particularly well-suited breeds of dogs and cats, the occasional mustelid and, for one particular mission where they’d had to house a foreign unit, a very inconvenient bull. Usually, though, it’s animals that are good in small groups as well as large ones, groups that can form flocks and packs and colonies, respectively.
They are a flock, mismatched and odd though they are, and Ghost has always assumed that, should they welcome a fourth into their unit, for a trial run or otherwise, their prime candidates would be other birds.

No one knows what Soap is.
It is, in theory, a simple question and answer. Ghost, however, knows how difficult that simple back-and-forth can become when information has the power to kill - his identity is a secret for the men he fights beside, for his own safety, for the country he serves. A simple question, what’s your name, is a game of mystique for every vampire when it inevitably comes calling; but vampiric name traditions are well known. No one knows his name, but they all know he’s beholden to it, that any who whisper it will call him home. They know why they don’t know his name.
No one knows what Soap is. And no one knows why.

Summary
Reconciliation is a process that takes time. Sometimes not quite as much time as you'd think.
There's an emotional throughline of developing character dynamics over the course of the series, but I've written the vast majority of the stories to be self-contained plot-wise. There's no required reading order if you want to jump around to ones that catch your interest, though I do recommend starting with the first one for background.

Summary
The glare he receives in return would be more effective if it wasn’t coupled with Andrew’s flushed cheeks and Neil’s spit on his lips. Really it can’t be helped that Neil drops another kiss to them, and then another, and soon enough they’re back to making out furiously against the wall.
Andrew drags Neil’s hands from the wall to his shoulders, and Neil moans at the hard muscle he finds there. He tries to keep himself in check, except then Andrew’s hands are grasping at the backs of his thighs and he’s being lifted-
Neil throws his head back as the sound of clothes tearing echoes throughout the room. Andrew pays it no mind, wrapping Neil’s legs around his waist, pressing the hard lines of their bodies together.
Neil breathes heavily with his eyes scrunched closed, trying to think past Andrew’s lips on his Adam's apple, painting marks along the column of his throat. He forces his eyes open, taking in the smokey black claws that have torn straight through the denim jacket still on Andrew’s body.

Summary
Of course there's always the muscle and the beautiful eyes and the every other tiny thing that has kept Ghost strung along in the last year and a half since Soap first walked up and demanded to be allowed to try for the 141. That's a part of it, Ghost knows. The drive, the determination to be the best without even taking into account his natural advantages when shifted into…whatever it is he becomes. Soap has always been cagey about that. But Ghost has always been attracted to competence, and this insolent, insubordinate little shit is also probably the single most competent soldier Ghost has ever had the good luck to work with.
And then there's the fact Soap is a hybrid. A damned powerful one at that.

The predator in him can't deny the inherent thrill of having prey so close; the satisfaction of remaining undetected is a high he'll never get sick of. Though he's strictly human, Ghost is stealthier by far than any other Soap has met. It's probably why he's so pathetically infatuated with the man. He mentally shakes himself, returning to the mission at hand as he and Ghost both watch the men beneath them until they enter a door and are out of sight.
Then they move.

Summary
Ghost almost looks hypnotised as he traces the tip of the blade, mindlessly running his finger back and forth, uncaring for the way the dried blood flakes onto his glove and desk.
Only when Soap takes a deep breath and the air tickles against the shell of Ghost's ear does he finally turn. When his eyes find Soap's they're… dazed, pupils blown so wide behind lidded eyes Soap can't tell where they end and his irises begin. The soft orange radiating from the bedside lamp is completely swallowed in their dark hue, and they look even darker when pitted against the bright blush Soap can see staining his skin from around the eye holes of his balaclava.
It almost looks as if he's sinking into subspace…

Wolverine sniffs a laugh, and Wade can practically feel his eyes land on him, interest and curiosity about a version of a man he already knows intimately swirling into something heady. He’s looking at Wade’s face, his arms, his hands, and Wade wants to know what he’s noticing, what experiences he’s comparing him to.
“With how my effort has been wasted, I’m about to give up on him,” Wade fights past the giddy tightness in his voice and points his thumb at Logan, “For the older, hotter version.”

Ghost nods to himself when the straps are secured, then comes to Soap’s head. He grips his jaw firmly and pets over his ears, his hair, until Soap is doe-eyed and lax in his hold. “I’m going to get my examination tools now,” Ghost tells him, his voice low and hypnotic, his eyes so dark they’re almost black, unblinking. He’s so strong, his presence is enough to bring Soap to heel so easily. Soap nods dumbly, wetting his lips. “Some of the items I want to use may be uncomfortable, even frightening at first. I want you to tell me if anything hurts, or if you’re in genuine distress. Otherwise, I’ll continue my exam until I’m satisfied.” He pauses to let the words sink in. “Do you understand, Johnny?”
Soap’s mouth is so wet with saliva, his tongue so heavy. He swallows and makes himself nod. “Aye.” Ghost arches a brow. “I understand. Sir. I’ll be good.”
“I know you will,” Ghost soothes, his fingers brushing Soap’s brow, the bridge of his nose, his blushing cheeks, the corners of his mouth. Under the hinge of his jaw to make him show his throat. “You’re a good boy, I know you are.”
