Summary
“Your friend out there said you’re a paramedic?” Jack asks, backing away to move towards the selection of gauze set out on the counter.
“Yeah, what can I do?” Eddie asks, already straightening up.
“Wash your hands off, sanitize them, glove up, and come help me check on her head,” Jack instructs him, and Eddie moves to do just that.
“What should I do?” Buck asks.
“Entertain her,” Robby answers, and Eddie laughs.
“You’re good at that, Buck,” Eddie tells him. “Just start talking, you’ll find something.”
or: eddie and buck help a little girl who doesn't want them to leave once she's in jack and robby's care, so they stick around to lend a couple of hands.

Summary
“You’re pretty sick. I want to check your temperature.”
Robby frowns up at him, an expression Dennis has seen on his face only a few times before— soft, vulnerable, distressed, the outside cracking to release how he feels inside when he can’t keep the mask up any longer.
“No,” he protests, the single word scraping out of him before he’s coughing. It’s a hard, hacking cough that steals his breath until he’s coughing and gasping for air; Dennis drops himself in closer to him, moving on auto-pilot, scooping him up beneath the arms and hauling him upright.
“You’re okay, it’s okay,” Dennis insists, holding him up, rubbing a hand into Robby’s back in firm circles. He can feel the thick, wet rattle of his lungs struggling to work. “You can breathe. Breathe with me.”
He presses his hand flat to Robby’s chest, breathing in exaggerated inhales and exhales. Robby’s fingers curl up in the loose material of Dennis’s stolen shirt, and he clings to him as he fights to breathe.

Summary
Robby can’t help smiling, letting Jack take hold of him, pull his scarf down, freeing him to be tugged down into a kiss.
It’s the warmest Robby’s felt in what’s only been hours, but feels like years.
“You’re safe,” Jack mumbles against his lips, then parts from him. His eyes are bright, his cheeks already flushing pink in the cold. He smells like warmth, mint, home. Another hot rush runs through Robby, and he grins, dropping his head down until his forehead collides with Jack’s, inhaling deep, unable to stop himself.

Summary
“I know it’s hard. It’s so hard, I know, I’m sorry,” Jack tells him, soaping the inside bend of his knee, making sure not to miss a single bit of him. “I’m so sorry. But I’ve got you.”
Robby’s eyes flutter back open, tears clumping his lashes together. Jack sets the sponge aside for a moment, rinsing his hands so he can take Robby’s face between his palms, sweeping his thumbs beneath his eyes. He clears away his tears, leans in, presses a kiss so softly to his downturned mouth, his wet-sparkling beard.
“I love you,” Jack promises him, their lips brushing as he speaks. “I love you, I love you. You’re going to be okay.”
or: robby has a bad day and reaches his breaking point. jack steps in and takes care of him when he gets home.

Summary
“Can I help? Please, I want— Let me help.”
It’s all too much, but his last three words prove to be Robby’s tipping point, pushing him finally and fully over the edge.
Desperate, jerky, he nods against Jack’s shoulder. He just barely manages to choke out, “Please,” and, “I’m so sorry,” before Jack shushes him.
“Don’t be sorry,” Jack says on repeat. “Don’t you be sorry, it’s okay. It’s all going to be okay, I got you, brother, alright? Neither of us is going anywhere without each other, I can promise you that.”
or: robby contemplates taking his own life after his last shift before his sabbatical. jack sees right through him.

Summary
Trent Crimm might only recently be an independent journalist, but he's had no one to rely on but himself for far, far longer. And most days, it feels like he's barely keeping it together. So it only seems fitting that the conclusion to the worst period of his life is for the whole thing to go up in literal flames.
Luckily for Trent, help comes from a (not so) unexpected source.

Summary
“Sorry, what exactly is it you’re doing with Trent?”
“We are having ourselves a party.” Ted holds onto his backpack straps and hopes that answer is good enough, which of course it’s not. Rebecca’s office is where gossip goes to die, resuscitate, and die again.
“Of course, but when two unmarried men, one of them openly gay, decide to throw a party together for no reason, it does lead people to wonder if there’s an announcement around the corner.”

A lonely, lovesick Ted decides to throw a party.

Summary
Trent is thrilled when he's invited out to dinner with Ted and Beard one Thursday night, and even more delighted when it becomes a weekly thing. It's not helpful for his crush on them. If anything, it's making it worse. But Thursday nights become too important for him to worry about it too much. Yes, he's basically platonically (?) dating the two men he fancies, but that's a problem for future Trent to figure out.
