He was so busy looking desperately for those mushrooms that he failed to notice the circle was no longer empty. He sulked around the meadow, searching with no luck and holding back panic at the thought of what he was going to have to do. How long did he have to get out of the forest before the fae noticed he took a mushroom? Would he even be able to or were they protected by magic? Would touching even the mushrooms that made the perimeter bind him to the fae the same way stepping into the circle would?

Tommy has heard of the Craft family before thanks to Techno and now that Techno has adopted him that Technically makes him part of the family, well Tommy has his doubts.
And his new family will do anything to drive those doubts away.

Tommy gets adopted by Techno and is now part of the family. He feels like he's intruding but the Craft family says otherwise

Tommy has never thought of himself as particularly unlucky. He’s always had everything he needs: a place to sleep (even if it was barely big enough for two), food on the table (even if he had to skip a meal or two every once in a while), and, most importantly, his older brother.
It’s been just the two of them for as long as Tommy can remember. When he was little, he thought Technoblade was the coolest person in the world. He still does. And as much as he argues against it when Techno calls him “kid”, Tommy doesn’t think he’ll ever stop needing him.
As he stumbles toward their tiny apartment in the dark of night, trembling hands pressed painfully against his stomach and sticky with blood, he’s never needed his brother more.

Eyes shut tightly, he nodded once. “Mm.”
“You owe me now. You’re in the circle- you owe me!”
That would’ve been a terrifying prospect to Tommy just hours ago. Never owe a fae, never let Wil win his little games.
But Tommy was small now, and all he cared about was the warm arms around his shoulders. The quick, shallow breaths of the fae against his neck.
Or: After Tommy gets hurt, he runs to the forest for comfort from his fae friend. In his vulnerable state, he regresses, and accidentally gives Wilbur his true name (and the power that it holds).

It was a underwhelming first day, they had a good stream but Tommy joked around a bit too much and almost broke Wilbur's expensive stuff.

The royal family of Antarctic empire isn’t exactly close.
Emperor Philza is always occupied; Tommy hasn’t seen Techno in months, and even if Wilbur is here, their relationship can be described to be strained at best.
The royal family doesn’t need to be close, however, it only needs to be balanced, like the pillars holding the country above their heads – as long as they are strong and steady, the Empire will be too. It’s the principle that held Tommy’s back straight and his shoulders broad through the years of hardships and trials of errors; through yet another formal meeting where his father’s gaze would look past him and where his brother’s words would be filled with poison that makes the deepest parts of his soul ache.
At that time, Tommy couldn't know that his family would find a replacement for him in the face of a commoner boy named Ranboo.

In the long list of rules that Dream gave him, there were four that stuck out as the most important. Four rules that he could never break.
Stick close to the island when swimming. Always be back before seven. Never complain or hesitate to give Dream his pelt. And never, ever interact with humans.
Tommy didn’t break any of those rules often, and if he did it was a one time thing, a mistake. But this wasn’t a mistake. This was a very deliberate, very stupid move on his part and Dream would kill him if he knew what Tommy was doing. Fifteen years Tommy had lived here, and never once had he intentionally broken one of Dream’s rules. Until now.
