“This is so stupid,” Lloyd mumbled, sitting down on the bathtub rim. He had a dry, clean rag in his hand. Kai proceeded to watch in mortification as the child of his greatest enemy wrenched a blade from out of his shoulder, pressing the rag to the wound. Lloyd dug around in a box and pulled out a needle, a lighter, and some thread. Kai proceeded to lose his grip on the wall in surprise, falling onto the open door with a very Ninja yelp.
Lloyd stared at him with blood-soaked hands; Kai stared at him with a mortified scowl. The front door opened with a “Lloyd! I’m home!”
Kai and Lloyd echoed the same word:
“Fuck.”___--___

Dick always loved the idea of soulmates. His parents had a pair of birds that danced up their arms. Dick thought they were beautiful.
But Dick loved his own more. It was a massive soulmark, spanning from the base of his neck to the small of his back and from shoulder to shoulder. An elegant fire colored bird curled it way up his spine, with its wings spread across his shoulder blades. Lightning bolts traced it’s way down the bird’s wings and tail. The feathers were intricately detailed, gradienting from a bright yellow to a fiery red. The bird’s eyes held a determined glare, making it look strong and fierce. All in all, it was one of the most impressive soulmarks those within the circus has ever seen.

Bruce fought for control and took a deep, sobering breath. “Whoever your soulmate is, I can’t decide whether I hate them already or need you to meet them.”
“Need me to meet them?”
Bruce chuckled—he chuckled—and said, “Dick. I have a feeling the two of you are going to be a particularly troublesome pair of best friends.”
