“Mm.” Tighnari makes a small sound of ascension. Teeth gritting a bit as he struggles to keep his composure. Bringing his arms down around Kaveh to drag him further up in his lap. Doing what he can to hide the way his lips tug down, anger flaring up through his usually calm and collected demeanor. “Maybe I can give him a bit of a taste of his own medicine.”
Kaveh makes a delighted sound as he’s pulled further up against Nari’s chest. Relaxing when the Valuka Shuna presses his face into the blonde’s throat. “You’re not going to fuck me unconscious too, are you?”
“Of course not.” Tighnari laughs. Sliding his lips down to kiss at Kaveh’s neck. The touch chaste and easy. “I wouldn’t do that to you.”
Alhaitham on the other hand…

Summary
He turns around and Kaveh is there, confused and bleeding out in his worry.
“Are you okay?” He asks like a plea. His fingers twitch against the urge to reach out—Al-Haitham knows by now that it is one way he expresses his love. As if the love itself is not enough, as if it cannot be felt unless it is drawn into skin, gauged into the heart. But, Kaveh knows him too, and knows that even a touch borne from love would be too much, would splinter him apart, so he restrains himself. That restraint brings Al-Haitham back to himself, just for a moment. Just long enough to look at Kaveh and see Kaveh.
Al-Haitham opens his mouth. The words almost don’t come—he can feel them, sinking into his stomach, dying, or perhaps hiding away, too tired to fold into sound. But, miraculously, he opens his mouth and something comes out.
“…need to cover the flowers.”

Or, in his weaker moments, small things remind Al-Haitham of his grandmother, and suddenly, he is made of grief.

Summary
Alhaitham has apparently decided to go about seducing Kaveh in the stupidest manner possible. And yet, that absurdity pales in comparison to Kaveh’s own stupidity—because somehow, against all reason, his roommate’s idiotic attempts to seduce him are working.
Kaveh turns to glare at Alhaitham, and Alhaitham stares back at him levelly—which only makes indignation boil hotter in Kaveh’s gut, even as his eyes drift to Alhaitham’s infuriating lips and start replaying that memory from this morning.
He knows what he saw. He’d watched as Alhaitham rounded his lips, took that banana far into his throat, and slowly dragged his mouth up the length, flicking his tongue at the tip. He’d seen Alhaitham start to repeat the motion, pausing with his eyes locked onto Kaveh’s—and then, with a half-lidded stare, he’d casually taken a bite and walked out of the room, brushing against Kaveh as he left.
Kaveh had been completely awake. And whatever the fuck Alhaitham was doing, it had been completely intentional.

“Be more careful. I don’t want to have to worry about you every single time you go off into the desert, Haitham,” Kaveh mumbles, but his tone lacks the fire that it should have. Instead, it comes off soft and concerned, making something twist inside Alhaitham. It leaves him feeling a little thrown off, dizzy and warm from the words and the care they carry.
“Of course, senior,” Alhaitham replies, and his voice comes off just as quiet. A little breathless even. Kaveh’s eyes flick to him, some unknown emotion hidden there, but he doesn’t say anything more as he pushes himself up to stand.

The little briefcase whirs slowly to life. She gives a low, sluggish chirp at Kaveh’s approach. He doesn’t smile. Instead, his fingers trail across the seams of her casing, checking each latch and joint with unusual severity.
Alhaitham closes the book, marking his page. “What’s wrong with her?”
Kaveh startles slightly, as though he hasn’t realized he’s being watched. His mouth opens, irritation flickering there—ready to scold, no doubt, for prying after this morning’s quarrel—but then he sighs, rubbing at his temple.
“She’s been… off.” He mutters the word like it doesn’t quite fit. “This morning she was sluggish. Commands lagging. Like she couldn’t keep up with me. She’s not supposed to do that.”
Mehrak starts malfunctioning at random intervals, and Alhaitham and Kaveh are determined to figure out why.

Dori wanted to give up on it,” he is rambling now, words slightly slurred by the alcohol on his tongue, “but Alcazarzaray is — that Palace is not allowed to fall before I die.”
“So you paid for it to be rebuilt,” Alhaitham says. It is not a question.
“It was either pay for it,” Kaveh mutters, “or die before it could finish falling. And I don’t want to die.”
Kaveh's skin is made of porcelain, and Alhaitham suddenly learns how to sculpt.
