Praxus is a cesspit. Everyone who lives there knows it, everyone who works there knows it. To almost every other City-State it is a model, a paragon, a height of unparalleled beauty and values. The crystal garden help, so does the corruption on every level.
Jazz wants to fix his home, in the best way he knows. Prowl just wants to survive, and leave this City better than it was when he got here. Except Praxus isn’t a safe place for honest mecha, and this may be harder than either of them thought it was.
Every action has a consequence.

Summary
"The first old dusty datapads he found the poetry on were in the back of the library in the Elite Guard academy. They were worn and cracked, with peeling protectant and flickering backlights. Despite this, Optimus picked a couple of them up and added them to a pile he was collecting. The assigned paper was on pre-war literature and examining how the war changed it. All of the datapads Optimus had checked out for it were returned except for the poetry. He requested an extension for those."
With Quintessons attacking Autobot and Decepticon colonies alike, Optimus finds himself spending more time with Decepticons in a non-hostile environment than he was used to. This, of course, leads to casual conversation (what else do you say to the mech you just watched rip apart a MTO Quintesson soldier with his bare servos?) and Optimus finds himself getting the answer to an age old question he really wanted the answer to.
But he's not too sure how he feels about the answer.

The mechs who had remained seated stared in stunned silence, untouched by the force. But the moment any of them attempted to stand, the crushing weight dragged them down as well.
I tilted my chin up, narrowing my gaze at Zeta Prime. From this position, he seemed far smaller, like an ant.

They land on Jazz.
Jazz keeps his posture rigid, blank, obedient. He’s been under Optimus Prime’s gaze, under Prowl's, under far more respectable mechs than Starscream; he knows how to hold steady under scrutiny.
Starscream’s stare is… Different.
Calculating. Predatory. Uncomfortably sharp, like a dagger pressed under his chin.
“You.” Starscream says, pointing with the mug. “New.”
Jazz snaps a salute a half-klik faster than regulation.
“Yes, sir. Adagio, sir.”
“I didn’t ask.” Starscream sneers.
