Tommy didn’t understand.
At least, on the streets, things were predictable. He knew that people would attack him so he knew how to respond. But Wilbur just stayed there, completely silent. He willingly gave Tommy food. No one had done that before. He didn’t try to hurt Tommy. Tommy didn’t get why he wouldn’t just get it over with – he had a dragon in his clutches. That was something most people would kill for.
Finally, after hours of ringing silence, Wilbur rose to his feet, his knees clicking loudly.
“You can stay under the bed for as long as you want. But just know that I won’t ever hurt you if you decide to come out. You’ll always be safe here.”
Liar, Tommy thought. But something in his mind was doubtful.

“I mean… yeah, let’s go with that in case this ends up on the news,” Siren shrugged, looking back at Tommy. “I kidnapped you, right?”
“Yeah, sure,” Tommy agreed, knowing that if they said he was kidnapped, it would keep people from getting suspicious of why he was seen in public with Siren. “Anyway, can I get the chicken nuggets happy meal, with a coke?”
or, how Tommy—who is not a hero, or a villain, or even a vigilante—saves the life of one of L'Manberg's most feared supervillains, and accidentally ends up becoming the resident doctor for every supervillain in town (and maybe gets a family along the way too).

A girl, no older than eight, crawled partly out of her hiding spot to peer up at Wilbur, biting the inside of her cheek. Matted brown curls were pressed to her face, falling just past her chin as she tilted her head. A once-clean yellow sweater now adorned two holes along the arms and her jeans were covered in stains and tears. A small red ribbon was tied around her wrist, clean despite the smudges of mud covering her cheeks and neck.

He just wanted to rest for a bit, but nope!
Off to another house.
He just had to hope this one is better.
The door began to creak open, revealing a short man with shoulder length blond hair.
Tommy was still shorter than him, obviously.
He was only 8 and a raccoon hybrid so he naturally was on the smaller side.
Also, the man had huge black crow wings.
Great. Someone who likes to defend his nest. This worked out for him last time.
The man greeted Puffy with a big smile before lowering his gaze to meet Tommy’s. As soon as their eyes met, the man’s smile softened.
“Hey, mate… It’s good to meet you. My name is Phil.” Phil extended his hand.
Tommy took it, looking away and towards the man’s feet. “Tommy…”
Phil stepped to the side. “Well… Welcome in!”
Or, Siren hybrid Wilbur and Tommy fall into instincts. Picture two cartoon characters screaming at each other back and forth.

Summary
How did Wilbur find himself here exactly? Working as a Mall Santa Claus, employees helping stuff pillows into his outfit to make him appear like he’d spent years eating nothing but milk and cookies. A scratchy beard sat on his face, golden-rimmed glasses perched on his nose.
Well, it was simple really. Wilbur worked a decently paying job, had his own apartment, and even had a small YouTube channel to the side where he posted some of his songs. He didn’t have a large following or anything, but he had a nice community.
But a nice community didn’t pay the bills. He had enough for his apartment and groceries, but sadly didn’t have much savings to buy expensive things for himself.
And when Wilbur saw a very expensive guitar hanging in the window, a large sign saying it was 50% off, he just had to have it. He’d wanted a new one for a while. Don’t get him wrong, the one he has is nice and has plenty of sentimental value, being one his mother gave him, but he wanted to treat himself to something this Christmas.
Or, Tommy asks Mall Santa Wilbur for a new dad, Wilbur provides.

“Oh really?” Wilbur sounds intrigued, but more so amused. “Prove it, then.”
With a flourish, Tommy stands up, and almost immediately falls over. Okay, so maybe that wasn’t the best idea.
As expected, Wilbur starts to laugh at him like the prick that he is, even though he’d immediately put his arms out to catch Tommy before he could hit the ground.
“My apologies for not believing you, Tom,” Wilbur says with a teasing tone as he helps Tommy sit back down onto the rolling chair. “It seems like you are, in fact, in the ‘prime’ of your health.”
Tommy glares at him, sniffing a bit. “I hope your building explodes.”
or, tommy (better known as spider-man) succeeds in being both the coolest superhero ever… and the most accident prone.

And suddenly arms were being wrapped around Tommy’s waist, and a chin rested on his shoulder. Tommy could feel Wilbur’s hair tickling the side of his face.
“Is it bad I don’t want you to remember?”
Tommy frowned, “Why?”
“Cause I don’t want you to leave.”
And there it was, the rush of warmth at those words. Warmth at the knowledge that Wilbur had grown attached to Tommy just as fast as Tommy grew attached to the family in this house. That someone wanted him here, maybe it made him happier than it should have.
But just as soon as that warmth ran through him, guilt came. Guilt at the knowledge that there was someone out there who he cared for, who cared for him. Someone who he knew was waiting for him, worried about him, who wanted answers about where he was. And he couldn't even remember them.
OR: In a world where everyone has a power, Tommy finds his out in an extremely inconvenient way.

“I should go,” Tommy murmurs. He’s fidgeting with something on his wrist that Wilbur can’t see. “I should go.”
It sounds less like he wants to, and more like he’s trying to convince himself that he has to.
“You could,” Wilbur says. He tries to sound indifferent. “But it’s not like I’m gonna kick you out or anything if you want to stay.”
Tommy looks at him. His eyes are blue, bright blue, a blue brighter than the sky when the sun beams down at noon. “I can stay?” He’s quiet, and hesitant, and that hurts more than the words themselves.
Or: A kid keeps showing up at Wilbur's cafe. Against his better judgement, Wilbur gets attached.

Phil glanced around. Yep. It was a bit bigger than before.
“I keep expanding it! Phil, please, I can’t get sick. Not right now.”
Phil and Techno laughed, causing Wilbur to look at them with confusion, “What?”
“Oh, mate. It’s very clear what’s happening.” Phil said with a grin.
Wilbur tilted his head in question.
Phil’s grin turned into a smirk, “You… have fledgling fever.”
Wilbur’s eyes widened and he scrambled up, getting stuck in the blankets and nearly falling over while Techno cackled.
“No!” He squawked, “I don’t have fledgling fever!”
Phil continued to smirk, “Oh yeah? Hm, let’s count up all the signs: you’ve been feeling like something is missing, even when your entire family is in your nest, you’ve expanded your nest for some odd reason…”
Or, Wilbur gets fledgling fever and Tommy just so happens to be the child his instincts attach themselves to. Oh, and he's human.

“Something has been stolen from us,” Thanatos said, his wings puffing up as he spoke. “Something that is very important to us. And we are fairly certain that the person who stole this thing of ours is in this very crowd.”
Dream tensed beside Tommy as the crowd broke out into murmurs. Eyes were darting towards the different heroes in the crowd, the benefactors no doubt assuming that the culprit had to be a hero.
“Like we said, we haven’t crashed your party to cause trouble. But we want this thing returned to us, and we won’t hesitate to take extreme measures to get what we want.”
or, Tommy was a lot of things: a newly debuted hero sidekick, an amnesiac, and a former kidnapping victim of the Syndicate.
Tommy didn't actually remember that last one though. That was just what Dream told him.
Only weeks after his hero debut, the Syndicate announces they are searching for something, and Tommy knows it has to be him. The scariest part? If they find him, Tommy will have no clue what to expect, because the Syndicate might know him, but he has no memories of them.
So he can't let them find him. No matter what.
Of course they end up finding him anyway.
