There’s no trace of exhaustion on Eddie’s face as he comes back, a paper tray with two coffee cups in one hand and a huge plastic jar of cheese puffs in the other.
“What is this?” Buck shakes his head. “How are you still hungry?”
“Road trip food.” Eddie makes a face, like Buck is the one being ridiculous. “You don’t have to be hungry. You just have to be on the road.”
Buck laughs and reaches for the jar. “I haven’t had these in forever.”
“Same,” Eddie says, popping the lid open. “No road trip in the Diaz family ever happened without them.”
“Oh yeah?”
“Yeah.” Eddie laughs quietly, shaking a few into his palm. “We’d get cheese powder everywhere – seats, clothes, our faces. Our mom would get so mad every time. Make us clean up after.”
He looks down at his hand and adds, softer, “But the mess was always worth it.”

He then realised something; he couldn't smell Buck.
"Where's Buck?! Cap, he was in the car with me. Is he alright?" He asked, ignoring the shooting pain that went up his neck as he turned to the older alpha.
Bobby's face broke more as Don placed a comforting hand on his shoulder.
Hes dead.
Eddie finally sorted his shit out, and Buck is dead.
Olivia placed a comforting hand on Eddie's shoulder.
"I'm sorry. Evan Buckley is still alive. But.....I'm so sorry. He's been taken."

Buck tried to convince himself it was just because Eddie watched too many Telenovelas with Chris, but then they didn’t talk about it. Sure he brought Chris back as an apology. But he never actually said he was sorry. What was he sorry about? What wasn’t he sorry about? Did he regret what he said? And if he did, which words specifically? Then Buck started to think it was true.
So from that moment forward, he started to keep track. And for every selfish thing he did, he would do a selfless one to balance it out. Of course it didn’t take the team long to figure out something was wrong.Or

The passenger twisted slightly, looking back at you over his shoulder. Couldn't make out his features—lighting wrong, vision swimming—but you caught the outline of a strong jaw. He stared for a beat too long before turning back forward. "'S not our—"
"Shut it," another voice cut in. Lower. Colder. Coming from the driver's seat. You couldn't see him at all, just a vague dark shape behind the headrest. "Where to, then?"

He realizes it right before everything goes to shit. He’s just standing there in the loft and Eddie’s handing him Christopher’s backpack and talking about “he’s not that fast” and “order pizza” and Buck sort of stares at him—partly in shock, partly in reverence—and he thinks "I love you." He shoves it down immediately, of course, as far down as it’ll go, but the fact of the matter is, it’s there somewhere, floating around inside of him. He can’t get rid of it now.
Not that it matters all that much, though, because there’s the whole quitting thing and the lawsuit thing and the argument in the grocery store and by the time he’s given his (re)start date he know; he well and truly fucked up.
