Steve Harrington couldn't explain what was happening to him, but the reveal of heretofore unknown psychic powers would not have been on his bingo card.
Steve could hear the search party. They’d started up near the Byers house the day after Will was reported missing, slowly expanding out further and further into the woods. Their shouting—their begging—melded into white noise beneath the gentle susurrus of wind among the branches. Steve wondered if Will could hear them, wherever he was. Were he hiding in the hollow of a fallen tree or locked in someone's basement, maybe he could hear the hundreds of voices shouting his name and know that, no matter what, someone was searching for him.

Steve finally turns his head to look at Eddie, taking note of the way the moonlight caresses his pale features, the way his stupidly long shag cascades amongst the sprigs and needles of the nuclear lawn. “Why’d you really come out here, Eds?”
“Mm… just missed you.” Eddie turns his head to look at Steve, too. His brown eyes flicker down and up, like he’s analyzing Steve’s expression for more. “Thought you might want something a little more effective.”

They say that, when you meet your match, you feel it.
Sure, a true Lux Animae is a hard-earned thing - a bond that must be forged and shaped and toughened in the fires of battle over and over again, and, if done right, will last a lifetime and longer. Still, many people claim that they sensed it, even long before the ceremony.
It is, after all, the magic that does the choosing, and the magic knows. Knows who is destined to complete you, who will fight and cry and bleed for you and draw out your full potential like no other can. So, when you meet them, you’re supposed to feel it. You just need to know what to look out for.
A tingle, some say. A warm, heavy buzz that fills your veins the moment you lay eyes on each other. An electric spark, zapping through your body like a current upon that first careless touch, letting you know that this is the start of something bigger, something stronger, something more profound than both of you could possibly imagine.
The only thing that Eddie feels when Steve Harrington steps on his foot is pain.

Summary
Everything is going slowly foggy. The fear is fading. Eddie's vaguely aware that it's probably because he's dying. What was terrifying a couple of minutes ago is only vaguely of interest now. An ephemeral pressure on the back of his brain. Present, yet easy to ignore.
All he can taste is his own blood, but it's not so bad. At least he can tell Dustin how much he loves him. And Steve's there. Steve Harrington. Who knew he would turn out to be such a great guy? So, yeah. It all feels alright. Everyone seems to be fine, so Eddie did what he set out to do.
Eddie was brave.
Eddie feels sleepy, vaguely aware that he's, actually, probably dying.
He closes his eyes.
There's a strange sense of vertigo, strange enough that Eddie notices he's standing up before he notices that someone's kissing him. It's a soft press of lips. It's wonderful.
Eddie blinks his eyes open, and from an inch away, he's looking at Steve Harrington.

Summary
Eddie should never have agreed to this. He should’ve told Steve no. He should’ve told him to ask Robin, to ask Chrissy, because him saying yes to this is a horrible, stupid, disastrous idea.
But Steve had asked him. So of course he’d said yes.
Because that is the thing about being best friends with Steve Harrington: he never asks anyone for anything. He’s hardly able to take that which is given to him, Eddie practically having to pull teeth to allow him to fix his brakes, and so when Steve asked him to be part of this insanity?
Eddie was a goner.
OR:
Steve needs one vacation with his parents where his mother isn't trying to set him up with someone, and what better way to get her off his back than pretending to date his best friend?
Too bad his best friend has been in love with him for the better part of their seven-year friendship, and neither of them are going to be able to get through this week without their feelings becoming known.
