I love you, Tim told his parents without words. Look at me, he begged a world that would never know his name. "Who are you?" Batman loomed over him, his very existence nothing to the man who meant everything to him.Tim turned around and ran.
He was forgotten again, just the lost wisp of a boy racing across the streets of a city too big for his tiny feet. Everything burned, from the back of his eyes to the hollow place in his chest, and he kept running. He ran and ran until his feet ached and his mind couldn’t keep up and the stars stopped mocking him. He didn’t know how far he ran. He didn’t know how he got back home to an empty manor where no one greeted him and no one missed him.
He flopped backwards onto his bed and stared up at his ceiling. “I made a friend,” he whispered, and nobody heard him. The universe spun and spun, and Tim was lost to its endless spiral.

Summary
Timothy’s body was nothing but a byproduct of violence and death. The pit healed his wounds but left scars that burned worse. He was ugly, he knew, but it hardly bothered him. Ugly things were real and permanent. They marred the world, left their mark wherever they went. It was not his ugliness that unnerved him. It was his simplistic mind that he was ashamed of.
His body was broken but his mind was carved empty. He’d been brilliant once, he was sure. Sometimes Ra’s told him stories of his past intelligence, of the times when he called him Detective. Timothy listened to those stories with childish envy, unable to comprehend how the person Ra’s spoke of with such pride had been him.
Sometimes, he thought the Bat might love him. Then he would remember that he wasn't the one he looked at with such soft eyes and he'd think of the Tim that the Bat wanted with such visceral hatred that he scared himself.

A Gothamite, a real true bonafide Gothamite, was a child of the city herself. With a dark shadow and razor sharp teeth and blue eyes. A Gothamite could slip from shadow to shadow, they would walk into one and walk out of another three miles away. Children playing tag in the darkness of the day would run into the shadow of a slide and exit across the playground still in pursuit. And a Gothamite was just a little bit insane.
Janet, despite her birth, is not a Gothamite
OR
Perhaps Jack and Janet were not entirely to blame for what would happen to their son. Because Jack and Janet loved their son, but Timothy was a Gothamite and so, the farther Jack and Janet got from Gotham the less they were able to remember him. Gotham would never allow whats hers to leave completely. By the time Tim is 14 Jack and Janet are empty shells, starving for their souls.
