He unbuttons the cuff of his sleeve and folds it back, exposing his wrist all the way, showing Raylan the rest of his tattoo: it’s not a dog, it’s wilder than that. It’s a wolf maybe, but it looks a little too thin, too hungry.
“It’s a coyote,” Tim says. And it's a mean one,Raylan thinks but doesn’t say aloud. Its ears are pushed back flat against its head. Its muzzle is open and pulled back into a grimace, a growl, his tongue lolling dangerously from its sharp teeth. Its paws are long and clawed, its full tail wrapped protectively around itself. It looks ready to bite.
On his way back to Kentucky after a long week chasing a fugitive, Raylan Givens stops at a roadhouse in the middle of nowhere to put his feet up and have a drink or two. Sitting at the bar, he catches the eye of a young ex-soldier, recently returned home from war. Raylan invites him to sit with him awhile, keep him company.

“I have a favour to ask,” Joe asks, and it feels the same as it did earlier when he had to thank Toye for telling him he could smell heat on him. He wants to grit his teeth against it, he resents it so much.
“Okay…” Web says after a second, when Joe doesn’t continue.
Joe sighs, rubs a hand over his face. He almost wishes he’d had Winters ask for him, but he’s not a coward. “I’m about to go into heat. I’m on suppressants, but I guess they’re not fucking working right. Winters said I could pick a partner.” There. That’s the pertinent information; Web can make an informed choice.
Web just blinks at him for a second, and Joe wonders if he’s actually going to have to fucking ask, and then Web shrugs. “Okay,” he says. “Now?”

Webster’s supposed to be doing a piece for the school paper. Joe’s supposed to be keeping a low profile. Neither of them is very good at doing what they’re supposed to.
Or: That AU where Spider-Man is a pissed-off burnout with too many responsibilities, and the school’s most uptight honors student accidentally falls for him… twice. Both literally and figuratively.
