Well, clearly ‘ they’ (Steph and Damian that is) were full of shit, because now Duke was awake at 5am, freezing half to death because one half of Gotham was a frozen wasteland, while the other was bathed in flames.
Or: There's an Arkham breakout, and Duke suffers for it.

Fuck. That was Jason’s first thought as his mind caught up to what he was seeing.
“Fuck.” Was the first thing he said, when he saw Duke sitting next to him on a stool, while Jason was in a bathtub, only a shirt and his boxers on which was definitely less than he had before. Probably because he was in a fucking bathtub.
“Oh, and he’s awake,” Duke said, turning off his phone and looking at Jason with an expression that either read glad to see you alive or you’re so stupid it makes me want to tear my eyes out. Jason had a feeling it was the latter.OR: Jason Todd, the Red Hood, the supposedly smart crime lord, goes on patrol while sick. Spoiler alert: it doesn’t go well. At least Duke is there to keep him from dying... and also grill him on his life choices

Holy fuck man the length of time I could go on for this series is UNMATCHED. One of the best things I've ever read. I normally don't like most big AUs because it feels like the characters are off, but this one does it PERFECTLY. The characterization is perfect, the story is perfect, and its just... SO GOOD. If I could read one series on ao3 for the rest of my life it would be this one.

And Talia had made that happen for him.
(AU where, at the end of his League of Assassins training, Jason decides to go to Metropolis for college instead of going back to Gotham for revenge. Things spiral from there. The title is so sarcastic by the way. There’s nothing regular about Jason Todd.)
