Summary
It became too much, the sincerity Chris offered, the patience, the way he waited for the other shoe to drop, and Leon looked away, glancing at their joined hands, and it was then that he saw a ring on Chris' finger as well, one that matched his own. He let himself dream, for a moment, let himself fly away in search of a world where his wishes were not impossible, just another fact, and his filter crunched under the weight of it all, so he spoke next.
"Are you married?" Was the question, and Leon bit his lip, looked up and prayed for his words to pass as a joke.
As a joke they passed, because Chris laughed at his question, punching Leon's shoulder lightly.
"Yes, to an idiot." He said, laughter still a glistening shine decorating his face, making his pretty wrinkles pop.

There was a long moment of silence… and then came Leon’s voice, ragged and backed by static: “Chris?”
“I’m here with Jill.” Chris switched from his assault rifle to his pistol, picking off plagas as they emerged on either side of them, trusting Jill to cut down the ones in the middle as she led them toward the security room. “Are you hurt?”
A huffed noise that was half-sob. “You could say that, yeah.”
“How bad?” Anxiety was a living thing inside Chris’s chest, trying to claw its way up his throat. He glanced at the directory again and realized they were close–the security room was down the current corridor and around the corner. “Leon, we’re almost there–how bad?”
Another seemingly endless silence, then, quietly, “This… was a mistake. I shouldn’t have called you.” The unmistakable sound of a slide racking came over the radio and Chris’s blood turned to ice. “Don’t worry. I’ll do it myself.”
(AKA the one where Chris embarks on a simple rescue mission... but nothing is ever simple. Featuring plagas!infected!Leon.)

Claire shoots him an unamused look, and another knot loosens in Leon’s chest.
“Chris isn’t answering his phone,” Claire answers. “I’m worried. After he went to the Arklay Mountains, he’s been acting off. Has he said anything to you?”
Leon shakes his head. “He’s mentioned some bad dreams, but refuses to go into detail. He stopped answering my calls about a week ago.”
After not hearing from his boyfriend in nearly a week, Leon decides to head to Raccoon City to see what's going on. Only, what greets him is something out of a nightmare, and it becomes a struggle to survive the night.Series
