"Okay," Ilya said slowly, not entirely sure what a billet was, but not wanting to admit his ignorance.
He could guess from the context – he’d heard of rookies being assigned to live with older single players, veterans who could show them the ropes. Maybe that was what Fletcher meant. This fic takes place right after Heated Rivalry episode 6, follows Ilya and Shane as they deal with an unplanned pregnancy without altering who they are. Ilya is still Ilya, and Shane is still Shane. The only difference is that Ilya is pregnant.
There are no ABO dynamics and Ilya is the one that is pregnant, opposed to the majority of mpreg fics in this fandom. This is a character-driven exploration of love, fear, and character realism with much higher stakes.

While Shane and Ilya navigate the friction of planning a life together, Luca is fighting his own battle. Feeling the pressure of a championship legacy and a lingering knee injury, a reckless accident lands him in the ER, where an incredibly put-upon nursing student makes him feel the same sparks he sees flickering between his dad and his captain. Too bad she's utterly unimpressed by his stats, his name, or his trophies.
The Hollander-Rozanov family is finding out that winning the Cup was the easy part. Building a home is where the real work begins.
