“it’s just…you keep acting like something horrible is waiting for you at the bottom of this mountain.” His whispered voice was calculated and obnoxiously observant.
Frisk chewed their lip and felt their nails subconsciously start digging into their palm. The last thing they wanted to do was ruin anyone’s excitement about the surface with their own anxieties. If anything, they thought they’d been hiding their fears pretty damn well.
“There are some things, Sans…” their voice seemed to start against their will, hushed and constricted. They put a hand over their heart, which was beating restlessly.
“…that I just can’t explain to you,” Frisk finished exasperatedly.

With terror in his marrow and his brother staying stubbornly silent about whatever was going on, Papyrus decided it was time to call in the cavalry, because he would be damned if he stood back and watched his brother Fall Down and Dust without doing anything.

Papyrus realizes that being on the Surface hasn't helped his brother's crippling depression, because his HP is still 1. So he decides to bring the others in on his brother's stats to try to help.

This timeline contained a rather strange Frisk, compared to most.
For one, there was no player. Just Frisk and their own actions.
For two, Frisk wasn't a child. But instead a rather mentally unbalanced young adult.On this Frisk's first Genocide route, everything is as you might expect for a normal Genocide route. Until they hit Sans. Their interest is sparked by the mysterious bone-man and his strange magical technique.

“Regardless of whether he’s a vessel or not, Sukuna consumed a special grade cursed object. Regulations would mandate he dies, no matter what.” Megumi took a deep breath, lifting his chin to look Gojo in the eyes, even with the blindfold as a buffer. “But I don’t want him to die.”
Gojo was silent for a moment, even though his lips had stretched into a smile. It was rare, really, for Gojo to come anywhere close to resembling genuine emotion, and yet in this moment…in this moment, Megumi knew he was dealing with the real Gojo.
“Is that a personal opinion?” Gojo asked, with his genuine, sad little smile.
“Yes, it’s a personal opinion,” Megumi returned. “Please save him.”

OR: Yuuji can see ghosts and spirits due to his connection due to his Godly roots, not that Yuuji's aware of it, though. This changes everything and nothing at the same time.

(For some reason, Sokka, Katara, and Aang have memories of growing old, and all the steps it took to get there, but have no idea what triggered it other than breaking Aang out of the iceberg. Naturally, they want things to be better, but teenage Zuko, still in his angry yelling phase? Adorable. They can work with this.)

But when a Spirit grabs you by the arm, dances a waltz with you, reveals your past and future to the Avatar, and shows you getting shot with lightning, you don't ask questions. You just get on the flying bison and embrace a new destiny in an attempt to save yourself and your estranged sister from the monster haunting your home.
Especially when there are only two known lightningbenders left in the world, and the Spirit revealed that both of them are traitors waiting for their chance to strike.
Or: the author has let the Epic brainworms get to them, and Zuko is the one who has to deal with it.
Featuring: Zuko trading his non-existent impulse control for some new friends, an over-protective Gaang who is very okay with that decision, a baffled Azula who isn't exactly going to say no to the older brother that wants to clear a path for her to take the throne, and a confused Iroh who just wants to know what he did to get slotted into the same category as Ozai.

The veil separating the spirit and material worlds has thinned in his absence, and on return the Avatar attracts the supernatural like honey attracts flies. Every member of his group somehow lives life with one foot in the material world, reality, and the other in the Spirit World, beyond the veil. Well, all except one, who’s arguably one of the most important and the only reason he’s not still asleep in that iceberg, and another, who’ll never get her chance to truly join him, doomed to die an early death. This changes when Zhao, in a stroke of self-proclaimed genius, decides to kill not one fish, but two.
Or: The one where Aang is the Avatar, Toph is blessed by badgermoles, Suki carries a piece of Kyoshi’s soul, Sokka’s the reincarnation of a spirit of nature and strategy, Zuko’s Sunkissed, Yue basically is the moon spirit, and Katara is kinda sorta sharing a body with La.
