He knows exactly what it’s like to lose someone he loves.
Like a father. Like a mother.
Like an adopted son.
It was always like this. Any time Bruce saw Jason, he always looked the same way he had when Bruce found him in that abandoned wing of Arkham. Broken, scared, and in pain. Bruce must’ve seen the vision at least a hundred times, and it never got any easier. This wasn’t how Jason deserved to be remembered. He was so much more than what Joker had done to him.
Bruce had let go of his hopes for a happy ending a long time ago. Even if the Insurgency managed to kill Superman, it wouldn't bring his son back. But when new information suggests Jason could be alive again, it's so hard not to hope.

What Jason Todd’s resurrection might’ve looked like in the Snyderverse if Bruce was a Good Dad, Slade was good but not good good, and Roy Harper was involved like he deserved to be. (No Snyderverse knowledge needed to enjoy!!)

Summary
Jason is only a vertical corpse encased in compact mud when Death reaches down and pulls, tugs him up through the ground. It takes little effort. Death is a sensible thing, but bringing Jason back from the dead for the fourth time is not a sensible thing to do. She is messing with something more dangerous than herself.
He’ll be fine, she thinks. She hopes his father will come get him, thinks of how overjoyed they will be to have Jason back. And so Death steps back. She’ll let the living handle Jason Todd.
Jason dies fourteen times before anyone seems to notice.

It didn’t take long, is the thing. From Jason cementing his hold on the Alleys, via sex workers from all over deciding to flock to a place where they aren’t considered subhuman, to the first Red Lights district joke to be made. Soon enough, specific alleys sport Red Hood lanterns over their streetlights and Red Hood planters above brothel doors and windows. They have cacti in them, he notes, exasperated. Craggy, ugly things that can survive the apocalypse. Figures.
It’s not that odd, then, that world’s most terrifying camboy decided to plant himself in the Narrows, a glance away from Hatter’s lair. Nightmare-inducing, yes, but not what one would call odd.
