But something must be going wrong with the processing. "Unless it is?" That would mean ... no he couldn't have said that. "Unless it is?" That look. Those steel blue eyes. The question she sees in them. Has he blinked at all in the last few seconds? Lucy say something. And she tries to think. But she can't think. Because her brain has a lapse. Not one of those blackouts you might have in an exam. "Unless it is?" No, it's not a blackout. Say something, Lucy. But she can't say anything. Because her brain has obviously switched to stand-by mode. Because it would mean ... no it can't be. "Unless it is?"
OR
A story about Lucy and Tim's secret dating era. The entire story includes what we see in the series and what happens in between. The evolution of feelings from that nervous question about a first date to the mutual trust that we see just a few episodes later. From nobody knows anything until suddenly everyone knows Chenford is a thing.

Summary
Tim may not have a major in psychology like Lucy, but he had gone through a traumatizing childhood and more than one round at war, not to mention the many years in patrol. He was able to see, first hand, the crazy things people could normalize in their heads and actually get used to. Some of them, although horrible, get stuck with you to the point where you can never fully go back.
He was now learning that the same could happen to not-at-all-horrible stuff as well.
Like kissing Lucy Chen, for example.

Oliver has to get used to being back home where he doesn’t fit anymore, while also taking care of a child and getting caught up in a larger conspiracy that keeps the existence of the Alpha-Omega virus secret. In the meantime, his primary mission is to reunite Akio with his parents, something that isn’t the easiest when being back from the dead and in the spotlight.

When I heard the song "Love's No Friend" by Rainbow, it reminded me of Sara and her s2 journey. (It also inspired the title of my Smoaking Canary fanfic.) This is the song and corresponding vignettes of her interior mindset and additional sceneage between her and other characters.
A sort of character study to address the contradictions of her character. Canon-inspired but not necessarily canon compliant.
