Summary
Sure life as king in Camelot DID sound like a pretty sick gig, it wasn’t his speed. Instead Sonic simply left in the middle of the night after making sure things could run without him, assuming that he would never return. Not knowing that a knight that had his heart strung along would have help from his Fae son to follow his king, even if that means leaving his own world behind.
OR: Lancelot is full of so much yearning he uproots his whole life to woo Sonic without thinking twice about the morals of the situation. Cue the rivalry that comes when two ebony hedgehogs vie for Sonic’s affections, only to eventually accept that he cares for both of them.

Shadow was in stasis after the events of Project Shadow, and fifty years later, the facility he was brought into was compromised, as if someone wanted Shadow to escape from Prison Island. Whomever it was, Shadow didn't care, he was just wanting to grieve the loss of Maria, but G.U.N just won't leave Shadow alone, nor will Team Sonic.
Shadow fights with both forces, then found himself exposed to the Chaos Emeralds...
When he opened his eyes, he was reliving the day that he lost Maria... the very day she was killed and Shadow realises that he has an unprecedented opportunity, to save Maria and change the fate of the one person he cares about... and maybe gain something more in the future.
