Summary
When the Dark Saber finds someone worthy of wielding it, the fable says that one warrior can defeat 20 and multitudes will fall before it. While in the hands of the unwilling, the Dark Saber will be a curse onto the nation. Yet, no one had said anything about the Dark Saber being haunted by a dead Mand’alor and a mythosaur. It was just Din’s luck that the two find him worthy to wield the legendary blade when he decidedly disagrees.

Barely a year into their trek to Erid and it seemed like something new broke every other day. Today, it was a screen in the mental health node – not life-threatening, sure, but with the bulk of the trip still yawning before them it was a real issue. Ryland grunted as he lifted the reflective surface off the section in need of repair, lowering it slowly to the ground below. Rocky chittered nervously from the doorway, rocking back and forth in his ball. There weren’t exactly any ladders on the Hail Mary, so he was making due with a lab stool he’d unscrewed from the floor. Rocky hated this, naturally.

Ryland hurts himself, Rocky gets bossy about what he is and isn't allowed to do while injured, and they're both horny about it.

As he stared down into the lumpy grey goop that was his evening rations, he contemplated whether it was really worth it.
They’d come a very long way just for Grace to give up and die at the last hurdle, both physically and emotionally. The Tau Ceti system was a long, long way away now, and Grace had faced not one but two highly emotional suicide missions. Three, if you counted the time before he was given a military grade roofie and hucked into space without his memories.
Rocky and Grace make it back to Erid! Huzzah!

It’s been nearly 27 years since Eva Stratt forced Ryland Grace to board the Hail Mary and sent him off to his death for the greater good of mankind. Meanwhile, Eva and the Project Hail Mary team have been fighting a losing battle against the cooling sun—and their own demons—trying to make sure there were still people to be saved by the time the crew could send a solution home. Right on schedule, the beetles are returning to Earth, hopefully with the answer to saving the world. What the title says. About 11 years ago (from my perspective; relativity is weird) I was launched into space onboard the Hail Mary to figure out a solution to the Astrophage problem. Now I live on an alien planet I call Erid, in the 40-Eridani system. Yes, I’m actually Ryland Grace. Ask me anything.

Summary
Grace flexes its jaw, shifts the marker towards one corner of its mouth, then removes the marker without actually consuming it. It makes a sharp pop as it leaves Grace's mouth, brightening the tubing in Grace's nose.
"I've got it reversed," Grace decides.
I unfreeze enough to let out a loud and pointed noise of disgust.
"Yeah, sorry buddy. This isn't exactly my wheelhouse."
Without acknowledging the aborted attempt to eat the marker, nor wiping it's digestive fluids off of it, Grace taps the square it paused over again.
"This is actually a second cousin," It says.
I decide not to ask.
