Following his defeat by Donkey Kong after a long absence, King K. Rool finds himself at his lowest point. He is discovered by General Klump and Krusha, and together with the remaining Kremlings, they decide to embark on a journey to find a new island to call home.
However, during their trip, their ship is captured by a rogue whirlpool, causing King K. Rool, Klump, and Krusha to fall overboard. When King K. Rool wakes up, he realizes he is far from home, stranded alone on a beach of an unknown island. Unbeknownst to him, he is about to become an unlikely hero as he begins to hear a girl’s voice in his mind, calling for help.

Donkey Kong has to go away for a while, leaving the other Kongs to relax. However, Kaptain K. Rool and his mischievous Kremling Krew, infuriated by their nemesis's absence, hatch a devious plan. If they can't seize Donkey Kong, they'll simply abduct someone else!
Liz, the Kongs' Kremling friend, has been taken by the Kremling Krew, and it's up to Diddy Kong, Dixie Kong, and the rest of the Kongs to rescue her. But as the Kongs travel through Crocodile Isle, Liz begins to see a different side of Kaptain K. Rool, who is grappling with his own emotions and slowly falling for the very girl he intended to use as a pawn to steal the banana hoard.
