Summary
Roman’s never had a name for this thing before. He's managed to put labels on other things as he's grown up—like calling out anxiety attacks when his chest hurts or blaming his constant fidgeting on "stress hormones." But this feeling of shrinking around family has been there since forever, leaving him feeling vulnerable and tiny and unable to talk, like he can't find the right words or make sense of it.
Something is wrong inside of him. He wants to reach into himself and rip it out.
Or: Roman is mentally stuck at the age he was abused at. He doesn’t know how to grow up. No one lets him.
