It’s the most terrifying thing Jaskier has ever seen.
It must be the case for Geralt as well, because he’s been staring at the thing without moving an eyelash ever since he dodged the swipe of the monster’s massive arm. Geralt had simply fallen backward and not caught himself in the fall, ending up sitting back as he looks up at the beast. Motionless.
There is no plan, no grand gesture ready for him to perform. All he knows is this: Geralt is not moving and thus Geralt is going to die. That is unacceptable in Jaskier’s world.

When Loki left Earth in chains following the Battle of New York, Tony and the Avengers had thought (hoped, really) that that was the last they'd ever see of the Chaos god.
But Tony Stark wouldn't be Tony Stark if his curiosity and his attempts at doing the Right Thing™ did not end up biting him in the ass.
And now, only seven months after leaving, Loki is very pissed off and back on Earth. Only, this time, with Odin's blessing and the clear demand that Loki should marry a form of Earth Royalty to 'strengthen the alliance between Earth and Asgard' (yeah, right. Tony recognised a time out when he saw one).
Every government in the world puts forward their royals - or the closest things they have to royalty - because of course who wouldn't want the special benefits of having such a powerful alien race as their in laws?
The US does not have royalty.
But they do have Tony Stark.

We’re the only bloody things he cares about. Everything else is fodder. If you ever have to make this call, you better be damn sure you don’t care about survivors, because there won’t be any.”
Price had been so eager to give the order. Imagine holding the nuke in your hands, knowing that you’ll be the only thing to survive its detonation. Imagine being Noah, but with the power to call the Flood whenever he wished.
Soap shivers, something not altogether kind or good curling around his brainstem at the notion.
Whether Gaz clocks it or not, he can’t say, but he eventually murmurs, “You’ll need a psych eval after this. We all get one after Ghost smokes out. Even him.”
Soap frowns. “Why?”
Gaz shrugs. “You’ll have to ask him. Personally, I think we all like it a bit too much.”
Soap blushes, and doesn’t have the words for why.
