Summary
As the entity's head swings back and forth between them, wisps of white hair float unnaturally through the damp air and light catches on a metal muzzle glinting across its face, which doesn’t hinder a deep growl that echoes through the chamber; grating, it sends a sense of dread through Bruce.
Damian’s prone body lay beneath it.
The sight cracks something within him.
“Release him,” Batman snarls. The entity only cements himself more firmly in front of his son, nearly blocking him from view. The growling grows. Nightwing unsheathes his escrima sticks.
Thick tension settles among them. The entity’s glowing green eyes flicker and in that moment, Batman acts.
---
Damian has been missing for two days after looking into an organization named the GIW. Batman's only lead is an escaped ecto-entity who he believes kidnapped his son as a hostage. When Nightwing and Batman finally find the entity, they will do everything in their power to bring their boy home.

Summary
Jayce takes a single step over the yellow warning line, near reaching for Vi. “What I mean is that, I want to have a conversation with you about what happened, get the facts straight, and… maybe even get you out of here.”
Suddenly the girl’s hands slam against the cell bars. Startled, Jayce flinches at the echoing bang.
“You can get me out of here?”
She’s so painfully young.
“I–I can’t guarantee anything,” he stutters, “but I’ve ears on the Council that will listen to me.”
Her top split lip twitches before she hisses, “Fuck you.”
---
When Jayce discovers that a 15 year old is sent to Stillwater in connection to the explosion at his workshop, he is appalled and begins the process of helping this young Underling gain back her freedom. Summary
“Look, guys,” Hunk said, thickly swallowing, “I don’t feel right spying like this.”
“We aren’t spying,” Lance defended, waving his hand as if brushing away his friend’s worry. “We’re just… we’re watching him from a distance…”
“In a bush,” Pidge added.
“With--Without him knowing,” Hunk hiccuped.
“I know this isn’t exactly okay,” Lance admitted, fully knowing he’s crossing an extremely hair-thin line regarding Keith’s trust.
---
The trio decide to watch Keith's pyromancy and necromancy session in secret on their journey to the Arusians. Keith unknowingly reveals a few emotional details that intrigue Lance enough to have him question his friend the following morning, but Keith's unwillingness to be vulnerable is a steep hurdle, though one Lance is willing to conquer.

Summary
After a few minutes, Lance finally broke the silence.
“Allura mentioned necromancers,” Lance began, wincing at how stupid he sounded. Keith nodded. “They… they are working with the Galra.”
“I know,” Keith said with a hard voice, then again quieter, “I know.”
“What do you want to do?”
Keith humorlessly chuckled. “What can I do? I finally hear of others like myself and they are on the opposite side of this war.”
---
The group finds out vital information about their connections to fae spirits called lions. As Allura explains, details about the Galra Empire are revealed that rattle Keith. In his desperation to protect his friends, he practices his necromancy a little too close to camp. Someone stumbles upon him. Their reaction may cost him everything.

Summary
“What kind of witch was she? Was she like us?”
“Nah, she was better, stronger.” He hesitated, the truth on the tip of his tongue. No, he’d wait to tell Keith when he could understand. “She couldn’t weave fire, but she had the heart of a pyro. Intimidated everyone in a room, your ma. Had a sense of danger following her, but I loved thrills and she always sent my heart racing.”
“Always?” Keith asked in awe.

Summary
“This is Keith,” Shiro introduced. “And he’ll be joining us to the Fae Pocket.”
“Wait,” the little imp breathed, taking a step out of the line of strangers. Her eyes shined curiously behind her gold framed lenses. She raked them down his form before settling on his face, amber glinting in recognition. “Keith?”
His nose scrunched in confusion. He crossed his arms defensively despite Shiro’s hand tightening. “Do I know you?”
“Yeah, yeah, it’s me,” she said, taking a breath. “It’s Katie.”
---
After Shiro's rescue from the Galra, Keith joins his brother and three other people outside his shack to discuss infiltration into the Galra Unseelie Court in the Fae Pocket. The introductions go fine until Keith recognizes a face from his past. He doesn't handle it well.

Summary
“Stars! It all makes sense.”
“Well, that’s usually how people react when someone had proclaimed they wanted to kill you.” Though Keith had attempted a light tone, the joke fell horribly flat. The silence afterwards was awkward and made Keith’s skin crawl. He berated himself. He had always been horrible at relieving tension from situations and he had to go and make it worse. He should’ve left the jokes to Lance.
Keith startled when Lance slowly rose from the floor and sat beside him, leaving a few inches of space between them. He let out a breath.
“I am sorry,” Lance sincerely said.
---
Keith and Lance get a chance to talk about the incident the day before. It goes well until it goes bad. Lance is hung up on Keith's necromancy and his unwillingness to use his necromantic fire and it drives the pyro-elemental witch further away.

Summary
“Hey, I’m Lance,” he introduced after clearing his throat.
The boy with the raven hair glanced down from his perch on the high windowsill, giving him an unimpressed brow before returning his gaze to the cityscape. Lance pouted at his quick dismissal of him, puffing out his chest, determined to win the bet.
“My brothers and sisters and I are going to play a game. Do you want to play?” he questioned, but the boy didn’t even acknowledge that he had spoken. His behavior poked at Lance in the wrong way.
------

He's quiet and withdrawn, an antithesis to Lance's loud and proud personality. Their first meeting turned sour quicker than Lance had ever anticipated. Summary
Shiro expected the boy to devour the bowl, but he simply sat there, gripping it tightly to his stomach defensively as if someone would take it from him, yet not eating a single berry in the minutes they sat together.
He looked at the boy properly and his appearance worried him as much as, if not more than, his behavior. Without shoes, his feet were stained dark with dirt and berry juice, his hands much the same. The dirt traveled up his arms and legs, darkening his scars and invading fresh cuts that glowed angry reds underneath. His long hair tangled and cascaded passed his shoulders; its oily strands obscuring his face and bleeding into his clothing. Patches of discoloration patterned the fabric with decorations of random tears and stains, one a particular shade of brown that had Shiro’s full stomach roiling at its implications.
Shiro felt sick. With a strained voice, he said, “Aren’t you hungry?”
===
Fresh into solo training, Shiro encounters a young boy attempting to steal from a market vendor. Circumstances and compromises lead the boys together, forming a relationship that may do more harm than good in a society with magickal norms and a history of bloodshed.

Summary
“My abilities are fine!”
“Tell that to your singed clothing,” Lance countered.
“I don’t need a lecture from a waterlogged seer,” he snarled, turning away, planning on making a quick escape to the forest.
“Well at least I can control my element. At least I didn’t grow up alone because of it,” Lance icily said.
