Summary
Lila and Trinity Santos have never had it easy. Their mom passed giving birth to Lila, and their dad was abusive. The second Trinity was out of med school she took Lila in, even in her tiny studio at the time. Now she’s an R2, has a 3 bedroom apartment where Lila has her own bedroom decorated in the most teenager way and she’s rooming with Dennis. Things are even going good with Yolanda.
As much as Trinity loves her, Lila is a medically complex kid. Type 1 diabetes, POTS, PCOS, ADHD, Autism, Anxiety, PTSD and Depression. So much to the point where she has a medical bracelet, anklet and her apple watch band has her conditions engraved into it. But Lila is a smart kid and she doesn’t play with her conditions. She hasn’t had an ER visit in 2 years…until today…when Trinity is working.

Summary
The cold hits them the moment the restaurant door swings shut. One second, Trinity is laughing, her breath warm in her chest, growing into a bubble of happiness she's keeping unexamined. The next, winter is clawing its way under her coat and down through the gap where her scarf isn't tucked in properly. The sidewalk is a patchwork of yellowing snow, blackened slush, and slick, glassy stretches where the city never quite got enough salt down.
Yolanda shifts automatically closer, like their bodies are homing beacons to each other. Her arm brushes Trinity's as they walk, a cautious nudge every couple of steps. "I told you to wear a thicker coat," she says when she catches the way Trinity immediately shudders against a gust of cold air.

“So, what’s your plan?” Garcia took another pull on her beer.
“My plan?” Trinity was pretty sure eating a burger didn’t require a plan.
“The flooded apartment. You do have a plan, don’t you?” Garcia asked.
“Uh, yeah. Of course.” Trinity started peeling the label off of her beer bottle. “Of course, I have a plan.” She shrugged. Garcia didn’t need to know that the plan didn’t extend past going back to her car and then, well, she didn’t know.
Garcia looked at her for a long moment before she blinked and took a sip of her beer. “You’re lying.”
“What?” Trinity recoiled. How could Garcia possibly know that?
“I’m going to buy you dinner. We’re going to walk back to the hospital. I’m going to leave you at your car, and then what? What’s the plan after that? Where are you sleeping tonight?”
A pipe bursts in Trinity's apartment. Does she tell anyone? Of course not. Garcia rescues her, but Trinity's trauma makes that difficult.

For her part, Santos looked like she was about to be run over by a train and she couldn’t do anything about it. Robby didn’t have to be close enough to hear the, “fuck,” that Santos said. He could see it.
“Trinidad Amira Malayah Santos de Castilla.” The woman kept walking towards Santos and Robby could see the resemblance now. They definitely looked related.
The woman shifted into a language that Robby didn’t speak, but Princess’s eyes went wider than he had ever seen them.
