Summary
The Dursleys have had enough and decided well, since Harry is now a teenager surely he can work for his own keep and sent him off to get a job as they will no longer be providing him with his needs (not like they did that anyway) and surely he can start helping pay the bills. Harry fortunately found a job that is nearby, a grocery store. As Harry settles in on this new routine he gets used it until one day on the checkout line he runs into the last person he wants to see.
"P-professor Snape?"
"Potter!"
For Harry it appears to be that things seem to be getting worse but finds that perhaps this is the start of something good.

Set at the start of book five. The ever-busy Dumbledore is a little delayed in sending that howler to Petunia, and so when Vernon insists that Harry needs to leave the house as he's clearly a danger to the family, Harry is packed and down the road with no protest, causing the blood wards to break. The Dursleys instantly become a vulnerable target for Death Eaters, and Harry himself is snatched by a Death Eater, but it's Severus Snape and this is coming from a Severitus writer so you've likely already figured out where all of this is going.

Snape didn’t become Harry’s guardian because he wanted to be. He did it because it was the best option they had at the time.
Snape didn’t start giving Harry Occlumency lessons because he wanted to help him. He did it because it’s what the headmaster told him to do.
Snape didn’t grow to care about Harry because he wanted to. He just did.

“I’m not a possession,” Harry hissed, the words dark and deliberate. He fixed Sirius with a sharp glare. “Not anymore.”
“You imagine I think of you that way?”
Sirius’ soft tone broke the sternness of Harry’s brow. His shoulders slumped, and he fought not to let go of the knife. Harry licked his lips, revealing a small truth.
“I think that’s when you thought the best of me.”

Harry moved into Grimmauld Place with his godfather and Remus after the end of the war, but he hasn't quite made it home. Sirius and Remus aren't letting him go so easily, though.

Severus, for all of his genuine faults and less genuine appearances, does not condone any child coming to harm. It results in men like him.~~~
Severus is called to check on Harry after the mess of the end of his First Year, and to have Petunia call him a freak right out of the gate is far from encouraging. To then find the boy curled up in a corner of a locked room only confirms things.
Severus takes Harry away from that abominable place without hesitation, and perhaps even wins enough of his trust to be asked to take him in by the end of it all.

Summary
Harry and Severus begin to settle in together, starting with a trip to the supermarket. He cannot let the boy go hungry.A trip down the sweets aisle for chocolate certainly isn't a necessity, but Severus is content to take Harry there all the same. Just as he is content to show the child how to most efficiently pack up the food, or to recite potions to him when nightmares strike their cruel blows.
Harry and Severus, quite simply, begin to learn to live together, to make a home of sorts together, no matter how it may be difficult at times.
It's worth it, to be slowly becoming a family.
(Another part to my Severitus AU that I started a month or three ago!! Hope you guys enjoy this domestic slice of life~)

Harry has been living with Snape for a few weeks now; settling in is a tricky process, but one that he's grateful for regardless.~~~
Snape places down a small sideplate next to Harry's essay, two chocolate Digestives sliding across it as he puts it down.
"Don't forget to get yourself a glass of water if you're thirsty, Potter." The words aren't harsh, if anything they're almost soft, like the feeling of a wool blanket, not quite scratchy, not quite soft, and it's enough for Harry to blink up at the man once, twice, before ducking his head again, nodding.
(Snape's expression was nigh-on blank, but his eyes... The light in them was worried, Harry thinks. He could have been wrong, admittedly, but it's something about the molten-soft edges, the furrow of his eyebrows, the way his attention had lingered on Harry, on his dry lips and too-thin wrists and on the papers splayed out over the table.
It felt like he was analysing Harry, but not necessarily for the sake of actually pulling him apart afterwards.)(Belladonna represents silence in Victorian Flower Language.)

(It's a rainy day, and Severus notes just how entranced Harry seems with it. And, well, when he offers for them to go outside, Harry definitely isn't going to say no.)~~~
"Would you like to go out today?" Harry snaps to attention, staring at Snape with quivering-tight shoulders, fingers clenching together, unable to help the sheer hope rising through him,
"Out in the rain?" He doesn't want to trust it, to assume that it's just okay. He doesn't think that Snape would be trying to trick him now, but it's still hard to trust something he wants so much. He knows that wanting something normally means that nobody else wants him to have it.
"Should you want to."

And all at once he's leaping forwards, jumping double-footed, knees bent-
Water splashes out in a big wave, all noise and movement and spattering, the weight of his own landing shuddering through him in the best way.
Harry can't help but laugh, loud and bubbly and utterly unrestrained, with just how very fun this is. How free he feels.

Himself after he’d screamed awake for the hundredth time and his Uncle had come in and expressed his anger. There were bruises along his arms, neck and face. His lip was split and dripping blood slightly, unlike his nose that had a small steady stream. There was a clear handprint around his throat from a much bigger hand than could be left by another kid. The Boggart smirked at him, but Harry felt cold everywhere. He felt incredibly cold or incredibly numb, he wasn't sure which. Maybe it was both.

Severus looked down and came face to face with a miniature version of himself. The boy’s big green eyes, Lily’s eyes— Severus made the connection without meaning to— peered up at him through dark, wet lashes. He was covered in bruises, his clothes stained with blood. They looked like rags the way they hung off his bony frame. It was the middle of summer, arguably one of the hottest mornings so far; the boy was still trembling.
Aunt Petunia makes a nasty comment about Lily, a lie meant to make herself feel better about her own life. Harry believes it. His dad didn’t die in a car crush with his mum, he’s still alive! And his name is Severus Snape.
Magic is belief. Magic is intention. Magic is love— Harry Potter really wants to be loved. He really wants a dad too.
Magic decides to make it true.

In the erupting chaos around them, Spock and Leonard come to realise that Jim's greatest hope for recovery is for Spock to do what only he is capable of, and go with Jim wherever it is in his mind that is causing such trauma. In order for that to happen however, Leonard must keep Jim alive - and prevent this increasingly horrific situation from destroying them all, quite literally, from the inside out.
