Or: A vengeful villain kidnaps the Robins on Bruce’s fortieth birthday and gives him four hours to save them. The fact that Dick still feels guilty about what happened on Bruce’s thirtieth further complicates the matter.

Growing up in a family of acrobats, Dick knew that maintaining his figure was important to his and his family’s profession. He knew his parents followed a strict diet — maintaining the perfect weight and ideal figure was crucial to their performances. But John and Mary Grayson never forced Dick to eat anything he didn’t want, nor did they ever stop Dick from eating anything he did want. And though his parents were never strict about Dick’s eating habits, he still tried his best to be mindful of what he ate.
Or: Dick Grayson has an eating disorder. He doesn’t cope well.

He blinks.

Maybe the parenting and grieving books he skimmed the highlights from last week–and Alfred–were right. Why else would Dick have approached their newest case with such ferocity and determination? At first, Bruce chalked it up to empathy. Seeing another child crying after his parents were murdered was something Batman and Robin could relate to.
But when they’d tracked the killer down in his hideout with other gang members, Robin ignored Batman’s commands to immobilize him and leave him for the police. Instead the boy rushed ahead, firing a wire to tangle up the killer’s feet before tackling him to the ground. At that moment, Bruce realized all too late just how wrong he’d been.

The blast ripped the building apart, heat and fire swallowing everything. Jason’s vision went blank, ears ringing, body shaking under the weight of memory and flame.
