Summary
“I think they made a mistake when I was born. Everybody says I’m a girl but I feel like a boy. We should tell everyone I’m a prince, not a princess. Then they wouldn’t say the wrong things anymore.”
“Zuzu, honey, you mustn’t say things like that.” His mother grabs his shoulder firmly.
“Why not?”
She doesn’t answer for a long time, gazing at the pond before finally turning back to him, the tranquility on her face contrasting with the urgency of her grip.
“It could make people very angry.”
“Like how Father gets angry?”
“...Yes, your father would get very angry.”
“Oh. Okay.”

Summary
This was not mercy. This was not kindness or care or love. Before he met his palisman he wouldn’t have been able to tell, would have complied without a thought. But Flapjack had shown them happiness. For some ungodly reason, he had been deemed worthy of this bird’s companionship without being useful in return. Before meeting him, their life had been dull. He couldn’t go back to what it was like before. He couldn’t. Hunter spoke before they even realized what they were saying.
“No.”

(aka my take on your typical "Hunter leaves the Emperor's Coven and gets adopted by Eda" fic. It is canon compliant for everything before Follies at the Coven Day Parade.) -
5 Times Remus Helped the Others and 1 Time They Helped Him by carouselofrats

Summary
Remus would probably be the last side to be associated with anything normal, which was precisely why he found it easy to tell that something was decidedly not normal in the atmosphere of the mindscape after the wedding. Everybody just seemed so... down in the dumps.
But what did it matter anyways? None of the others had ever done anything for him, so it wasn’t like he really cared anyways. Obviously. Of course he didn't.
(he did.)

Deceit stood up, bringing out his hook and pulling Logan off of the screen. The logical side landed a bit roughly in his room, mirroring his usual position in Thomas’ living room.
“My apologies, Logan. I’m afraid my summoning abilities are a bit rusty and… unusual. Lovely room you have, by the way.”
aka my interpretation of what happened between Logan and Janus during POF when he was dragged off screen.

The Missing Hat (And What It Hides) by carouselofrats

Summary
Janus was panicking. His first movie night with the other Sides was in just a few minutes and he was missing his hat. He couldn’t let them see him without it, everybody had only just made up with each other and he’d lose all of the rapport he’d worked so hard to build up with the others if they did.
Janus felt like the mindscape had played a cruel trick on him. The others’ hair was all so beautiful… and yet he had gotten stuck with the mess he currently saw in the mirror. It was curly. Too curly; and ugly in comparison to the wonderful way that Patton’s curled. To add insult to injury, Janus’ hair just had to be blonde: a bright, platinum blonde.

Summary
Aang's energybending fails, and the war is lost. But before the gaang can blink, they wake up in the past, on the day that Katara and Sokka found the Avatar.
The war's a lot easier to win when your biggest enemies are on your side from the beginning.
Ft. the gaang's antics, loads of dramatic irony, and literally the entire Fire Nation being confused as to why, when, and how the banished prince got happy emotions and friends...
The first 5 chapters were written in 2020, and the (minor!) rewrite and all subsequent updates started 2025-06-01. If you want to see the work as it was before the rewrite began, the original work can be found using this link to the Wayback Machine!!

Summary
“Your dad,” Sokka starts, then swallows hard. “Your dad dueled you, burned half of your face off, and then banished you because you spoke when you shouldn’t have?”
Guilt festers and bubbles like black tar in Zuko’s chest. “I didn’t just speak. I questioned and insulted one of his highest-ranking generals—but the man was planning a massacre! He shouldn’t have—” Zuko clamps his mouth shut, his teeth clicking together, and swallows thickly. “I mean. I found the tactic he proposed very startling, but it wasn’t my place to question such things. I’m sure he had his reasons.”
“Tui and La what the absolute fuck,” Sokka whispers.
[Zuko gets imprisoned with Sokka and Katara during the winter solstice, and some very unfortunate things come to light. Alternatively: the gaang
kidnapsadopts Zuko in book one after discovering just how awful his father is.] -

Summary
It’s been three years since the Agni Kai where Zuko lost everything. He is no longer a Prince, he is not allowed to return home, and he’s long since sworn off firebending. He is destined not for greatness, but to spend his life alone.
That is, until a very stubborn Water Tribesman comes along, and everything begins to change.

Summary
“Shut up!” Iwaizumi signed aggressively, fingers moving with the fluidity of someone who had grown up using them.
It was easy to see, even from that distance, that Oikawa’s eyes had widened, probably at the surprise of having this stranger sign at him before speaking, but quickly his features softened. He grinned, looking way too happy for someone who was currently in an artificially lit library at 2 in the morning with no coffee cup in sight.
“No,” Oikawa signed back, before adding the sign for heart.
Fucking insufferable.
Iwaizumi Hajime can't understand how someone who can't even speak can be so loud. Telling them to keep quiet turns into the most important moment of Iwaizumi's life.
