Vic frowns. Usually there would at least be a rustle or a sleep-heavy noise at the sound of his voice, some sign that he’s not alone in his bed. With great effort, he forces his eyes open in a squint, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes. It takes a moment for his vision to focus, but as soon as it does, his veins run cold with terror.
Kellin is missing.
Someone has taken Kellin in the night. Vic is going to get him back, whatever it takes.

“So, it sounded like you had fun last night.”
It takes Vic a moment to realize what he’s talking about, but as soon as it hits him, red floods his cheeks. He definitely forgot where they were last night, his entire world narrowed down to Tony and the knife. “Shit, was I really that loud? Sorry.”
Jaime laughs, shaking his head. “Nah, it’s cool. I’m glad you had a good time.” He looks over at Vic, gaze blatantly roaming down Vic’s body. “I bet I could make you louder though."

Being backstage for somebody else’s set was like sitting in your friend’s kitchen while they cook dinner. Nobody else keeps their shit in exactly the places you do, so the whole operation looks uncanny-valley. Even Sirens had reorganized as the members turned over, and Vic used to be able to navigate their weird-ass setup blindfolded. That wasn’t a metaphor, by the way.
The When We Were Young festival schedule lines up perfectly for Vic and Kellin to carry on their annual tradition of

“Here,” Anthony pulls a cigarette out of the carton and hands it to Frank, who accepts it gladly, then takes another one out for himself, “for your troubles.” He lights Frank’s before his own, feeling Frank’s eyes on him as he breathes in, watches the cherry glow to life, still silent. Trying to find the words. They’re both leaning against the cool metal of the bus, but Frank’s turned towards him, hips canted forward. It’s fucking maddening.
“So, what’s up, then?” Frank finally asks. “Not gonna ditch you now, ‘cause you let me bum a cig off of you and it’d be an asshole move of me to just leave right after, but, um.” He gestures loosely with his cigarette hand. “What can I do for you?”
Anthony exhales slowly, tracks the curl of smoke into the air until it dissipates, then mumbles, “I’m gonna tell you something really fucking crazy and you’re just gonna have to believe me.”
(Anthony falls asleep in 2024 next to the love of his life, and wakes up in a world that might as well have been a lifetime ago. The situation is less than ideal.)
