You leave the palace and your crown behind, and vanish behind a stone door nobody can pass. In the ruins, you can build a safe haven, protect any further children that drop from up above. Perhaps you could become a mother, again, and try to understand what drew these children up the mountain and into the abyss to begin with. Try to heal that wound.
You suppose this is a form of cowardice in itself.

So she pulled herself together, rolled up her sleeves and got to work. Even as time passed, as their condition worsened and the fever refused to break.
All is right, she tells herself.
The child isn’t dead."
A few weeks into their life on the surface, Frisk falls ill, bringing some old wounds to light.
