Summary
What if Ned wasn't beheaded in King's Landing and Catelyn didn't die at the Red Wedding? Just over two years ago I asked myself those questions, and with the encouragement of some wonderful people I started this story.
This story takes place entirely in the canon universe, diverging from GRRM's epic at two points--Ned's execution and Catelyn's murder at the Twins--and examines all the ways that the survival of these two people might have changed events both large and small in the world of Westeros. The ripples have far reaching consequences for many throughout the Seven Kingdoms, but at its heart, this is a story of two people, their marriage, their family, and the North.

Summary
Robert dies during the battle of the bells and Aerys dies after being poisoned. King Rhaegar reconciles with his wife and makes peace on Dorne's terms. A guilt ridden Lyanna agrees to take the blame and the punishment as long as the North is not penalised for her mistakes.
Most people agree that Queen Elia Martell is a magnanimous and kind woman. Why else would she agree to such a mild sentence? Arranging for her brother to marry her husband's discarded lover, even giving her a generous dower.
Lyanna finds herself married to a man who hates her, in a kingdom where she is both unwelcome and unwanted. She gets to raise her son, as long as she earns her keep and learns to be a dutiful wife. All she has to do is survive the Red Viper.

Summary
Harry Potter is twice-orphaned by the time he's nine years old. When his Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon die in a car crash before his ninth birthday, he's sent with his cousin Dudley to live with Aunt Marge. Unfortunately, Aunt Marge drops him off at what she thinks is an orphanage, leaving Harry in the care of children's services.
A year later, Remus Lupin comes looking for his best friend's son, to check on his welfare. When he finds Harry missing, he asks for his father's help in getting Harry to safety and family.
Chapters will alternate between Harry POV and Remus POV, unless otherwise stated. Canon-compliant relationships.
