Summary
This is a world-building exercise for my upcoming Fallout 3 fic. I plan for it to take place after The Girl From The Gomorrah, so it's a little canon-noncompliant.
Derek Sawyer is a peculiar wanderer who collapses in front of the gates of Megaton--with only a set of dog tags and a torn page of the Bible being the hints to his past. When he saves the life of a young woman in the Super-Duper Mart, he becomes even more perplexed when the woman references Revelation 21:6 and asks if he's found his father.
Kyle Vargas is a bored settler fleeing a violently turbulent and traumatic past, trying to move on with his life--when he notices a man fainting in front of the gates of town. Intrigued and infatuated, their bond grows thicker and thicker, eventually springing into a intricate romance.
Amata Almodovar has spent the past four years enduring abuse and isolation in Vault 101. When she flees the Vault in search of Derek, she rediscovers him only to feel as though she has lost him all over again--unable to recognize her or remember any details prior to his awakening in Megaton. Vowing to help him remember, she travels the remnants of a world thought uninhabitable.

What started as a strong friendship has become essentially two strangers in the same home, and Rowan is unable to shake the feeling that her meek, gentle best friend isn't all that she seems underneath her pretty smile and soft voice.
Will the truth unravel like a thread of lies? Or will Lumi be able to pull the wool over their eyes?

Summary
This is essentially a direct sequel to the events of the book, written in Pony's first person POV. It's set in a timeline where Dallas and Johnny each meet a different fate, and we see Ponyboy deal with the way his life and relationships are changing. Including finally acting on his feelings for Johnny. Its not primarily a ship fic, though. That's just a little treat.
Anyway, this first chapter just follows Pony visiting Johnny two-ish months after the fire.

Marcia looked up and saw the other girls looking at her with compassion. This would certainly be something the boys wouldn’t get. She didn’t need them to. She already had four girls who would always have her back. Regardless of being greasers or Socs, there was an unspoken code between all of them, between all the girls of Tulsa, that they needed to stick up for one another. They needed to make sure that their drinks stayed unspoiled or that they got home safe after parties. They needed to make sure that their bruises or scars weren’t at someone else’s hand. Maybe the reason the boys fought so much was because that code didn’t exist for them.
