Summary
As much as Jack disliked Davey getting sick, it got difficult to pull him from the rain when he looked so happy and at peace in it. There was a childlike glee in his eyes that Jack treasured every time he saw it, and his laugh was so bright and musical and unrestrained. Even his body language was different, with his head and chest tilted towards the sky. He looked like some majestic rain god with the water flying off him as he continued to spin.
He looked so free.
Maybe Jack was staring a bit, but he figured a man was allowed to gawk at his husband from time to time.
Davey was absolutely beautiful.
(Or: Jack and Davey spend a morning in the rain.)

Summary
It wasn’t as if Davey consciously forgot how to act like a proper, respectable member of society. He had just spent so much time around the newsies that their habits and way of speaking had been so heavily ingrained into his mind by the time he returned to school.
So, no, Davey hadn’t lost his manners or the correct way of speaking. It just occasionally slipped his mind that he wasn’t supposed to attempt to spit shake when speaking with a teacher or unintentionally offend a classmate with a nickname that escaped his mouth before he could reign it back in.
(Or: 5 times Davey forgot to not act like a newsie at school + 1 time he didn't need to.)

Davey was so close to his breaking point. He had never felt so furious in his life before. He was in no way happy to be yelling his vocal chords to death or show this much anger in front of so many people, but Jack was getting absolutely infuriating and needed someone to reel him back in and remind him why they were striking in the first place.
