In the middle of all of this, Wilhelm grasps three things. One: He’s in Bjärstad. Two: Oh my god, holy shit there’s two real live shifters right in front of me. Three: He’s so fucking dead.

All his life, Wilhelm had been told that shifters were ruthless, uncivilized killing machines, nothing but a blot upon the earth meant to be contained and controlled. His relatives’ numerous horror stories, along with his close, mother-son relationship with the President of the Commission for Human Defense haven’t given him any reason to believe otherwise.
But an accidental run-in with a shifter the morning after his arrival at Hillerska sparks something passionate, dangerous, and exhilarating—what may be just the thing to prove him wrong.
Family secrets, betrayals, and self-discoveries are unleashed upon Wilhelm when his growing connection to the shifter bursts alight and he finds himself struggling to balance a double life. One wrong step, and he could be killed. Yet, he learns this new encounter may also be a blessing in disguise; the world he had thought was far too different from his own could be the home he’d needed all along.
