Careful not to spoil the moment they’d found themselves in but eagerly needing the reassurance that, no, his captain was not getting to his knees in front of him with intentions Goodsir could only bring himself to wonder about in the shameful dreams that any boy or sailor denied physical pleasure long enough would get.
When Fitzjames dared to meet the gaze of his subordinate he was met with a face wracked between need and fear. “This cannot happen,” the expression seemed to scream out, “It's sinful, it’s unorthodox, unacceptable, unbecoming, it's… wonderful, and I never wish for it to end.”
“Captain, you can't,” Goodsir finally managed. It was but a fearful whisper but it was said. “Please get up, it's not right for a captain to… sully himself this way,” he pleaded.
___Or, feeling particularly lonely, Captain Fitzjames invites Dr. Goodsir into his tent. They share a moment of connection in the time of shale and scurvy.

“Remus, he needs someone who can connect with him…” Minerva’s voice had a desperate edge to it, “He doesn’t trust us.”
“And you think he’ll trust me? I’m as much a stranger to him as you.” He turned his eyes to Dumbledore, pushing past the discomfort as they made eye contact and his soul was pierced by the shrewd gaze.
“We think he may trust you because you and he have similar… backgrounds.”
He frowns at her, trying to put the pieces of what she’s saying together. Similar backgrounds? Shitty childhoods, maybe?
“Harry was not attacked.” Dumbledore says, breaking the silence, “He perpetrated it.”
A cold chill runs through Remus’ body. His mouth is suddenly far too dry and he feels as if bands wrap around his chest. He shakes his head.
“What?” He wheezes out, feeling all at once that his chest will cave in when he hears what Dumbledore has to say.
“I’m sorry to have to tell you this.” Dumbledore sounds truly grieved, and Remus feels bile rise in his throat. He’d used that same tone of voice when he’d found him after news about James and Lily, Peter and Sirius had broken. Had it really already been four years since he’d lost them?

Summary
Hank&Connor flee Detroit overnight after both are driven to the brink of committing suicide during the final days of the revolution. Taking refuge in Canada, they have to learn how to live with each other, help each other heal. Which isn't exactly as heartwarming as it sounds. Hank could fill a novel with his emotional baggage - alcoholism, depression & selfhatred over the death of his son. Connor is quick to catch up to him with his own share of problems- the constant threat of Amanda and another possible hacking attempt by Cyberlife leave him terrified of losing control. He's clueless about the concept of identity, free will and emotions, wants nothing more than to stay a machine. After all, he's only deviated in order to stop his partner from killing himself, not because he'd wanted to be free.
After a few weeks together, things seem to get better. Androids are close to gaining their rights in America. Hank and Connor are starting to form an actual familial bond. The Lieutenant is almost becoming hopeful after years of mindless cynicism. Then Connor starts slipping out of their home at night on a regular basis, believing Hank doesn't notice. He sure does. After all, he used to be the DPDs very best.
